This song is So ICONIC yes! So, the director wanted to make this song because as both Padmini and Vyjanthimala were bharatnatyam dancers and famous in North and South, media would say they hated each other, whereas in real life, they were fans if each other, so the choreographer made it intentionally to make it look like a competition and neither won, a subtle middle finger to all those who were pitting the actresses against each other

Off-screen they both have normal relation with each other. Only the director told them to fight on screen & arranged everything for it. Vijayanthimala was more famous of the two, seen in many Hindi movies (apart from all Southern languages). Padmini acted in lesser number of movies, with the dancer role predominantly, that include Hindi (apart from all Southern languages). In Hindi her notable films were "Jis Desh me Ganga Bahtihai"(1959)" & "Aashiq"(1962). Being elder by 4 years Padmini passed away in 2006.
