Elvis, I'm sure Padre Jesus Christ went to your rescue when you needed Him the most. He saw how tired, weak, and worn, you were and said "My Son, it is time to rest", took your hand, and led you home. There he made you ALL NEW again to never suffer more. RIP my Angel.

*Elvis Presley could sing any genre of music - Ballads, Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll, Blues, Country, Pop, Bluegrass, Doo Wop, Folk - and sing it exceptionally. Dave Wiseman, only one exception: Elvis Presley would claim that Jesus Christ had the greatest voice of all time, and Elvis would also claim that Jesus Christ lives forever. I am inclined to agree with Mr Presley on this. Of course, Jesus Christ was never a recording artist. *Elvis Presley could sing any genre of music - Ballads, Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll, Blues, Country, Pop, Bluegrass, Doo Wop, Folk - and sing it exceptionally. He had an extraordinary vocal range - and when he sang, each song contained heartfelt sincerity that came through to generations.* Of course, there are those who claim that Chuck Berry and Little Richard were each King of Rock & Roll, but let's be honest, *Elvis Presley never committed armed robbery* before he started out in music as Mr Berry had, and *Elvis Presley never dressed in drag in live performances* the way Little Richard had. *Elvis Presley remained throughout his life a humble and generous human being who believed in God, in the United States of America, and in family, in that order.* *Most Hit Singles On US Chart:* *Elvis Presley* had a record 149 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1956 and 1996. Marty was alright, but lets face it Elvis is the King. Enough said, the passion & talent he had will never be matched by a single human being on this planet in the past present or future so therefore in any scenario you have to justify Marty it will ultimately lose to Elvis...just being honest not trying to rip Marty, but EP dominated this song.

The King has always been my favourite entertainer, however I would never denigrate an entertainer who was as great as Robbins. Elvis was also an admirer of his, so much so he recorded songs written and performed by him. Regarding other entertainers Elvis said 'I think there is enough room for everybody'. What a shame some of his fans don't have a fraction of his graciousness. Then perhaps they might not say dickhead things.

Elvicare35, NO, HE IS TELLING THE SENSIBLE, MATURE TRUTH. Elvis didn't criticize or put down anyone who didn't do him Undeserved harm. "Just Saying" He liked everyone
Several people have recorded this, but non can stand up to Marty Robbins' version, altho Elvis is a close 2nd!
@thebigfella22113 жыл бұрын
@daileyaidan what the hell are you on about who is marty robbins, get a grip ELVIS PRESLEY is the king that includes this song which is not even one that he would have released over most other tunes.
@thebigfella22113 жыл бұрын
@hirdy6 hi you why do you have to be so UNCOUTH, all i said was who is marty robbins, maybe he is a great singer but i dont know who he is and 9 out of 10 ppl my age wouldnt kno he he is, but everyone knows who the king was, and by the way thats the king of the entertainment industry. you need to be locked up and forced to listen to pakistani music for 5 years. then when you come out you wont wanna listn to anymore music
@hirdy613 жыл бұрын
@thebigfella221 If you found what I said uncouth, you should get out more. No desire to listen to Pakistan music and fail to see the relevance to the discussion. If you don't know who Marty Robbins is, you obviously don't know what you are missing so educate yourself. A simple search of you tube will find plenty of his material. By the way, Elvis was a huge fan of his, so much so he recorded 'You Gave Me a Mountain' which was penned by Robbins.
@thebigfella22113 жыл бұрын
@hirdy6 OK you got me ther i think that is a great song and one the highlights of aloha from hawai. but get back to the original comment i felt compelled to respond to was when someone said elvis came 2nd to marty robbins, i was like who the hell is marty robbins elvis didnt come 2nd to anyone. so keep your chin down and your eyes up and think before you insult someone again.
@davidwalsh34398 жыл бұрын
A nice version but definitely not the best version but you pays your money and makes your choice. Just because Elvis cuts a record doesn't automatically make it the best. Elvis fans need to open their minds a little bit. And they will slate me for making this observation

I am a gigantic Elvis fan and I truly feel this song shouldn't have been released by Elvis. He had some voice issues in 1971 from singing in Vegas (Vegas throat) and you can really hear him straining on this song and songs like "It's Only Love" and "Love Me, Love the Life I Lead" recorded that same year. He did do some great folk/country songs in 1971, but they got spread out over several inferior albums instead of being on one album. This song, Padre, was considered leftover material from his May of 1971 recording session and only made its way on to a hodgepodge album ("Elvis") 2+ years later in July of 1973. All of the material on the album had been recorded in 71 and 72 and was hastily assembled to fulfill a three album per year agreement with his recording label, RCA. That album was a horrible release considering it was the follow-up release to the #1 "Aloha From Hawaii" LP. Luckily the buying public was busy buying "Aloha" and the album in question was quickly forgotten, peaking at #52. It wasn't that the songs were horrible, but it was rather dreary and slow overall and not even close to his best 70's studio LP's (That the Way It Is - 8 of the 12 tracks were studio cuts, Elvis Country, Promised Land and From Elvis Presley Boulevard). It even pales compared to the lesser Elvis studio albums of the 70's like Good Times, Elvis Today, Elvis Now and Raised On Rock.
