King is gonna get extended and Musgrove will be back next year so Roki won't be alone. Also Darvish for 39 was able to make Ohtani look like a fraud in October so I'd say even in his 40s he'll still be silencing the critics. Roki will be the Ace based off age but Padres are only a Lorenzen, Quintana, Quantril, or Corbin signing away from being right back in the hunt. Especially with Vasquez and Waldron waiting in the wings. If Roki picks SD he'll be fine and he'll be safe especially working with Ruben Niebla

@@LennyMolnar-rs8df Incorrect. The late owner provided the vision and spent the money. AJ has been in his job for 10 years, longer than Peter was the majority owner. If Peter had a competent front office executive while we spent well over a billion dollars we would have been more successful and even got to the WS. The structuring of contracts and choosing the right talent matters. Compare AJ’s 10 year record with teams within our division. Giants have won the division and the small market Diamondbacks went to WS. Dodgers are Dodgers. AJ is a good scout but that’s it. He’s below average as a FO executive. He’s never been ranked highly by any of his peers or sports writers. Outside of SD he is not viewed favorably. He’s been fined and suspended by the league multiple times and there are some teams that won’t do business with him at all when it comes trades.

He brought in plenty of stars that were busts before Peter. We are still paying Hosmer this season. That wasn’t Peter that was all AJ. He can’t be absolved of his incompetence and ineptitude. Can’t lay everything at the foot of a dead man. He was the accomplice.

Padres inaction is frustrating, but a much bigger problem is MLB's financial structure. HTF are Padres supposed to be able to sign any real stars when LA, NYY, NYM, BOS etc all have streaming revenue 5-7 times SD. Bleak outlook for Padres going forward.

It’s not like we didn’t drop a billion to try to win. It didn’t work. Now we must deal with the consequences for years to come.

Manny Machado was the worst nightmare contract in the league and bogarts was 5th. After 2025 year they will all be liabilities and you still owe machado like $280million age 34-40. Its 40 mill a season for machado after 2024. Boagarts contract will be $25 mill a year for age 33-40 and owed $200million. They went all in but they were dumb about it.
