My opinion, but I think it's still worse than Soto. Cohen has FU money and it most probably won't inhibit him from getting the pieces he needs for a run. Padre's just don't have a lot of wiggle room to overpay a players.

Don't weaken your team Trade MACHADO'S 40 million a year and save the Padres an additional $320 million left on the contract and also Trade BOGARTS saving another 250 million you don't need to spend 25 million additional this year that 65 this year Padres cut Machado and Bogarts save $550 million Trade Machado even though it's a no-trade contract and Bogart's you'd have to include 20 million on each of these players but you're saving 500 million in the long run Keep the chemistry and go out and sign it to T Hernandez and Starting pitchers Save millions of dollars by trading two players that never going to get you over the hump in a World Series you're saving $550 million off your payroll which means you can sign which means you can sign Profar - sign quality players Not give up the chemistry that we have on our team like Solano Peralta in the rest of the crew that contributed greatly now is not the time to dismantle the chemistry of the team but to trade the two salary guys Machado and Bogart's you'll receive solid pitching in return maybe 2 to 3 starters for both of these players you don't need 550 additional bogus underachieving players that don't hit in the clutch Manny in the playoffs Etc
