Had not seen this film before. I was afraid it was going to be another "ye olde pagan fertility rite" thing, but it actually covers a lot of things that rarely get mentioned. Thank you!

Thanks for your video. Being a padstow boy a long way from home these days is glad my heart was taken to my first May Day when I was 7 months old in 1953. Once that song is in your heart it never leaves..🖤🤍..

This is a typical May Day garland festival once found all over England - bringing in the green and decorating the town with it, night and day songs raising the maypole etc. But with the addition of a hobby-horse that evidence suggests once paraded at Christmas (like most hobby-horses did and still do in some areas). Talk of pagan 'Celtic' Beltane origins are unfounded.
