Paetongtarn Shinawatra Becomes New Thai Prime Minister

Speaking at a press conference in Bangkok on Friday, Paetongtarn Shinawatra said she felt "honored" and "happy" to become Thailand's next prime minister. The youngest daughter of former Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra addressed reporters after winning a parliamentary vote. Paetongtarn was picked for the top job after the country’s Constitutional Court dismissed her predecessor Srettha Thavisin in an ethics violation case.
