I have this nostalgic memory from my time flying in the Philippines that always takes me back. I visited the PAF Aerospace Museum, and it felt like stepping into a time capsule of aviation history. The museum houses some truly iconic aircraft, including the SF.260, the Texan, the Mustang, and the Crusader-each one telling a story of bravery, innovation, and the rich legacy of the Philippine Air Force. But there was also a surprise in store, a hidden gem that made the experience even more special.

Hey magnar, I'm glad you flew for 5J for a short while it's a big airline here in my country. I've flew to caticlan as a pax with the Q300 way back 2008 and it was a fantastic trip before it got upgraded to a longer runway few years after. A big fan here! I've learned a lot from you and hope to be flying an ATR soon! Keep it up captain!

I grew up visiting the old museum, but moved out of the country. I actually have not been to the new museum yet despite being back to the country 3 times since. Thank you for the tour! Brings back lots of memories.

the F5-A Freedom Fighter was used un the movie "Apocalypse Now" which was borrowed from the Philippine Air Force and later gave it back after the Filming was done.

A fascinating journey through aviation history, with incredible stories of rare aircraft like the Temco T-610 Cali and insights into the Philippine Air Force Museum's treasures.

The Philippine Air Force is also the only ones to fly the AS-211 attack fighter planes . Other airforces flew the S-211, but not the AS-211.

Today, as I write this comment, had just left Clark's Air Force City and returning home. In it, we saw a F8 Crusader, F5 Freedom Fighter, UH1 Helicopter, old prop trainer, new prop trainer, Starstreak(?) The one whose main armaments are wing tip mounted aerial rockets. Other displays are a WW2 75mm pack howirzer and oddly, a ZSU 23-2. Needless to say, we enjoy it.

The ZSU 23-2 is a holdover display from the old Clark Air Base library. I saw it right after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption & after the Americans officially vacated Clark. I believe this Soviet-era AA is a war trophy taken by US troops from the Ho Chi Minh trail in Cambodia. I actually have a picture with me sitting on it, just like the famous Jane Fonda pose in North Viet Nam.

Great video! Wasn't aware of the Cali, however Temco did build the Pinto fairly close to where I live, so I was aware of it. Side note: if you ever make it out to Fort Worth Texas, you could visit the Fort Worth Aviation Museum and the Vintage Flying Museum, both located on Meacham International Airport. Both museums house some relatively rare aircraft.

Wow! Two museums at the same airport! Fiji Airways has opened a route to Dallas, so I have no excuse for not coming for a visit.

Did you know that the Philippines was the only air force in the world to fly the F-8 Crusader? Because the US and the French only flew them in their navies.
