Hey Guys. I realize you can get bales out of a baler every 5 or 6 seconds. Usually you see that in the higher capacity balers. I think this New Holland 565 was baling about at capacity. Hay was dry and it was another nice day to get it done.

Wow......you have a million dollar view to look at when you're working in the fields. That is beautiful country! Sure beats working in an office any day, plus you get to smell the hay...PRICELESS!~

I grew up in the PA hills and as a kid I used to get a job riding in the wagon behind the kicker and I would stack the bales as they were kicked off. That way we could really fill the wagons. I guess they would call that child endangerment today but I lived through it just fine. I was even hit in the back because I didn’t stack the bales fast enough but I learned real quick. Thanks for the video! brings back some good memories...

Get some plastic twine much easier but you still might have trouble because of that dam belt thrower it can melt the strings I have heard but I never been around a belt thrower. I’ve heard some guys put groves in there belts for the strings

Yea the grooves that wear in was on some of the older balers. They changed the design a little with this style.

I’m surprise to see such a small amount of viewers for such a good and helpful channel. We just started farming in October, in upstate New York, and everything is new to us. I purchased a beaten 273 new Holand baler, and don’t know which side of the cow is the head.. your videos are definitely helping, thanks for sharing and taking your time helping others, god bless!!

we always set speed to get a set amount of flakes per bale. thin hay go faster heavy hay go slower. cant remember what our goal was if it was 8 flakes a bale? of course had John deere balers but nieghbor has an old 273 new holland. you have any opinion on that baler? he says its not as good as the deeres but its a nice baler. see if i can rent it and try it out.
@PAFarms

I had a NH 275. I think it’s similar to the 273. It did very good for me. I baled a lot of rye straw with it. The only trouble was the pickup is smaller than the more modern ones. You have to rake it close. I don’t think I ever saw a JD Baler in person

he liked that new holland except they didnt have the flywheel mass that the deeres had. you would get more of the plunger grunt through the tractor.

Looks like you made up some really nice windrows with the old IH 35 rake. The New Holland 565 was pumping out some nice looking bales. Watch that heat, it'll sneak up on you when you least expect it. It's been rather hot & humid here the last week or so. How many bales did you end up with? Stay safe.

This field gave about 460, exactly one less than last year. But I did crank the tension down more this year.

Your 565 looks like it has about the same capacity as my 316. I really like these old NH balers. Back in the late 70s I bought a new JD 336 baler & thrower, never did like it much, but kept it around for about 20 years anyway.
@PAFarms

Yea I think some places in the field, I was about fast enough. I started pushing the windrow with the pickup.

We had that problem with 7200 sisal twine and changed to 9000 sisal and works much better. We tried poly once and didn’t like it, had problems with the knots, no problems with the thrower. Just too much down time. Worked well in the round baler though. Also, central tractor twine is not so great.

Yea other than the twine jamming everything, I have no complaints. If you get good with a thrower you can almost put a bale anywhere you want it. I baled with an old timer who could set the speed and angle just right, he could almost stack the bales!

We use 20ft flat hayracks so we get 30 bales a layer 5 layers high on edge with our grapple fork. Works very good. Can get up to 150 bales on a load. We used to use sisal but our organic certifier didn't like it so we switched to the plastic which has been working great. How many acres of hay are you currently doing?
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 жыл бұрын
I wish I could use the 20ft wagons. They just get too heavy on some of our hills. At the dealership I saw a Baler with the wagon tong ripped off from a full 20ft and hillsides.

Good day Yea up here if this is Sun. It is suppose to be extremely hot, high humidity, very hard on my breathing. Boy you were pumping they out. At 8 bales per second =480/hr. I notice while driving it sometimes took 2 strokes to get hay in chamber. That other field that is not cut, 2 different colors what is problem? Put fan in barn when working on hot days. Good luck & thanks

Thanks We had old gehl silage wagons( back end unloading via electric motor and cables) that we had added rack tops to. I couldn't get more than 95-98 per load. Hilly ground in Western PA always had to be careful loading the uphill side so you didn't tip the wagons
