It’s not remotely her fault. Period. I see where you’re at with it not being what you’d expect from that age group at a pageant, but she isn’t a parent girl. This was her first time, and she talked about what to do with her grandmother. It is age-appropriate for a 9 year old, just not for an 8-10 year old performing in a pageant.

Surely the Dad's first port of call would be to sign her up for something where all the kids are equal and comfortable learning together, like theatre classes, arts and crafts, speech and drama? Not to mention putting her on TELEVISION at the same time....smh. I went through something similar at age 7 or 8, super introverted kiddo and my mom had me try tap dance, ballet, etc. But she didn't push the issue after I went to one practice and told her I didn't like it....she just pulled me out and was proud of me for giving it a shot. I eventually did settle for martial arts and soccer lol. At least she let me figure out what I wanted to do and wasn't too overbearing. Note: Im 23 and still super introverted lol.

She doesn’t even seem shy just disinterested and introverted. She actually seems rather confident just being herself. It’s when forced into roles and expectations she seems to falter.

Having been in a pageant before I definitely remember people's parents being worse then this. My mom had me do it for a similar reason (work on being less shy/ confidence) but it wasn't stressful I just didn't know what was going on most of the time 🤣🤷♀️

Wouldn't the daughter benefit more from being enrolled in an activity she enjoys and being more social and confident among like-minded peers? It looks like she wasn't into this at all--and I never see the children interacting with one another? This just seems to promote that toxic energy of everyone else being competition and molding young girls to measure themselves against others.
@medelo20d623 жыл бұрын
Honestly this gives off vibes that it was actually the daughter's idea instead of the dad's and dad just really dived into it believing it would be good for her confidence. I mean this was her first pageant at 9 years old. Normally these pageant parents start doing pageants wayyyy earlier than that before the kid is even old enough to say they want to do it or not. Also the daughter came up with her routine for the talent portion and practiced it all without dad's input. If she didn't want to do the pageant I don't think she would have been that excited to take that kind of initiative.
@adrianejabelosa56383 жыл бұрын
well that may be true but it could also just be because she loves her dad soo much, you would think once everything started to falling apart the dad would've just pulled her out of there (because it wouldn't affect him whatsoever) but he still went with it and even argued with the anouncer lady just to get the child in, tho that may just be because he loves his child so much, but it doesn't change the fact that it comes across as his idea to do this, and also because the girl looked very uncomftrable tho again this could just be the cameras making her nervous but again it also comes across like she doesn't want to be there it can go either way we truly don't know, but she does seem like she gave it her all and that she loves her dad and at the end of the day, i don't think the dad had ill intent, but to me the dude came across as a bit of a karen and in my opinion i pretty bad dad with the way he handled things, tho he is a single father, it doesn't shield him for his perental mistakes

I’m so late to this one, but if I was a single parent with a super shy kid I’d invest in a small pet for them (a rabbit, or Guinea pig), lots of library time and maybe trips to horse farms, museums and places like the ocean so they could do a lot of independent exploring. The pageant angle is counterintuitive.

I am an introvert and as a child I was extremely shy and super anxious (I wouldn't talk to strangers, I wouldn't even eat in public) and apparently when I was around 4, some people approached my mother in the mall saying they were kiddie talent reps of one of the local TV stations and wanted to "make [me] a star"...mainly because I am "mixed race", which can be a big deal in Southeast Asia. Luckily my mother had the sense to know the experience would have been a highly traumatic one for me, so she declined. She told me about it a few years ago and I thanked her for not pushing me into that life, genuinely grateful that she put what was best for me first.

@JustHackingAround3 жыл бұрын
I think this is a case of the father being so animated and energetic and outgoing (albeit in a weird way) that the daughter's just never had the chance to develop her own personality. Always overshadowed by him, always being suppressed by his own behavior. It's sad to watch. Hopefully he'll learn to back off and give her the room she needs to grow on her own in the future, without being forced. Being a single dad can't be easy, so he deserves points for taking care of her at least.

Just providing another opinion here, im not saying anyone is right or wrong: This is probably the 4th or 5th time I've heard someone mention natural pageants in these types of videos. Girls mention feeling even worse than regular pageants, because if they don't win they can blame it on someone having better makeup or extensions or whatever, you really feel like you're losing because you're just naturally uglier. That makes me sad i hope that isn't the case for everyone. I can see the positives in putting yourself in front of people to gain confidence.
