Of course they do. Its a rigid proven platform. With the new coatings developed for F-22 and F-35 the Nighthawk can be used as deep penetrator for recon.... hypothetically of course. But they are seen flying even in Mach loop recently.

The F117 is pretty durable and reliable especially for the technology it employs. Plus it still a stealth aircraft, not remotely the most stealth one but still is alone in its niche as a deep penetrating stealth bomber of small size. It’s also cost wise a lot better to lose a F117 to surface to air batteries in a heavily defended airspace than something like the B2 which is the only other stealth bomber or stealth aircraft in general that can internally carry the cheaper 2000lb JDAMs

I had always heard that the F-117's nickname was "Wobbly Goblin" because it couldn't fly without the computer control system do to it's extreme instability.

Same for the F16 the F16 needs fly by wire system F16 F22 F35 B2 F117 all use it because they all are aerodynamically unstable while flying which is how these aircraft have good maneuverability Besides the B2 and F117 if you turn the F117 too fast the V tail should snap off that was the only real flaw with the F117 design they didnt see

It should be noted that the F-117 has actually returned to service in limited numbers with certain agencies within the US government, as examples have been seen flying around the country as recently as October of this year.

Fun fact Leckheed wasn’t notified of the Stealth aircraft contract as for why they had several contracts they had worked on already and the DOD wanted to keep them out because that's would be too problematic. However a surprise visitor happened to wonder in found out what they were doing and told them about the contract.. They showed up unannounced uninvited and won… they made this out of boredom O_O the insane asylum disgusted as an Aircraft development hanger strikes again.

Sorry to break it to you, but we'll never be getting those. The F-35 is made to hit targets from hundreds of kilometers away, so not a fit for warthunder. And any large bombers used today will not arrive until gaijin fixes bombers. (never)

This would be the perfect aircraft to start the process of implementing no enemy name identifiers in air RB. Top tier air RB aircraft should appear like enemy aircraft in ground RB, use your eyes or your radar to identify enemies

Yeah but this thing is on br 8.7, most enemies fighting this thing in ARB are late koreans - early vietnam jets (like Mig 17, 19, and early Mig 21) which don't have a good radar to begin with.

@@the_undisputed_king_5395 first of all it doesn’t need to bleed tickets tickets bleed on their own, and if the enemy mows the lawn and then they all, die, well you have a situation on a 100 by 100 kilometer map, there’s one guy left who doesn’t even have an indicator, and yes my eyes are just fine, I do play sim, but there’s no reason to take the F-117 into any mode other than Sim or ground Rb. It just seems annoying to have an aircraft Running around on a massive map while your tickets bleed and yes you can ground pound, but sometimes it’s not always an option. It just seems annoying to have an aircraft that has an exclusive ability, for a mode that it’s useless in anyway, that’s more annoying than anything else, and if it has no indicator, would a blind hunt work on it? Have you not had the annoyance of one f84f 50 kilometers away, and then losing a match cuz the enemy ground pounded so hard that you lose, because it’s annoying

I remember an old movie before the true purpose of the F-117 was declassified (but the plane was shown in public already). In said movie they used the F-117 to infiltrate and exfiltrate special forces by landing in the desert, pretty much like a minibus. And yeah some ending dogfight ensued.

That one aircraft that got shot down happened because the enemy had a spy living near the air base that told them when he saw the F-117 take off. This made the enemy turn on their radars and detected where the F-117 was when it dropped it's bomb and lost its stealth mode.

At least 3 F117 were shot over Serbia. Its true only 1 was captured by Serbia, but it was declassified in recent years by the US that other 2 were shot as well, but they managed to land outside of Serbian territory. After the first one was shot, the others were sent with escorts of F16 and Prowlers to jam the radars and keep the sky clear of Serbian aircraft. But even with the escort 2 F117s got hit. American F117 pilot Charles "tuna" Hainline speaks of his wingman in another F117 being hit while on a mission over Serbia and Lt. Col. William O'Connor in his book "Stealth Fighter" speaks of another F117 being hit few nights after the previous F117 (codename Vega) i just mentioned got hit. So shooting one of these was definitely not a stroke of luck, but Serbians clearly learned how to search and detect these with the anti air capabilities they had. Which leads us to the conclusion that although "stealthy" these planes were definitely not invisible and one would think that with much more modern AA we have in the game, these would be fairly easy to detect and shoot down.

Stealth aircraft are easily detectable with ultra-low frequency radar. The problem is that when you use ULF, you pick up EVERYTHING. The bird flying by? On your screen. The leaf on the wind? On your screen. It takes either a massive amount of computing power to get rid of the background noise, or you need a good amount of intelligence to match what you're seeing. The F-117s would fly the exact same flight path every day, so all a competent air defense officer would need is to match the known flights with what he's seeing on his radar screen, and he can actually target the planes. It also doesn't help that when the bomb bay doors were opened, the plane lost all its stealth, which is how the one that actually got shot down was targeted.
