Pahvo Space Set - Wrath of the Living Planet Proton Punisher Build

In this video I am going to combat review the new Pahvo Space Set from the current event AND show you the build I am using it on as a build video. The result, a highly informative review and build all in one. The ship I have chosen, despite the thumbnail, is actually the Legendary Jem'Hadar Pilot Attack Ship with a Protonic Polaron weapons and loaded down with ancient Dyson reputation gear that has been collecting dust for literal years! Let's see how broken this gets.

Nice build. Good to know the set is quite decent. Is the synergy with other energy types good enough to replace other set omnis with less impressive set bonuses, such as the Trilithium Enhanced? Or would there be a noticeable loss in damage on a phaser build?

Not really, no. The Resonance Shock proc would more than make up for any loss.

I love how we (normal people who don't buy out) get these sets a few days after an upgrade weekend. 😝 Or maybe it's a good thing. By the time the next upgrade weekend comes I've forgotten these event sets exist. 😆

Really good review. I have been playing around with the set and completely agree the resonate charge is the best part of it. Hopefully they leave that alone when they fix the cool down issue.

This set just cut in half the cooldown time of all the torpedoes on my Eagle raider. Glorious torpedo spam ftw!

You should be able to use the leveless trick to double up on the Pahvan gear to get extra Resonance chargers. Not tested the Pahvan gear but usually you can fit the levelless gear alongside the upgraded gear. So two Pahvan torpedoes. Might even be able to fit two consoles for -6 shared cooldown if it stacks and 16% haste. I sometimes double up for theme builds. Like x2 Black Ops Mine Launchers.

I don't understand the people who skip events while being at L65+. Running TFOs at low level without Endeavors is an awful experience even on normal difficulty so I understand skipping then. Free equipment is free equipment and not all of it is bad: see the last several event ships and the Tholian Set from last year for examples. The warships that launched a forward firing torpedo out the back were mostly British and Soviet torpedo boats from the first half of the 20th century. So it is a decent fit for a Dominion ship thematically, if a bit obsolescent in the modern day.

My epg console build with the pahvo 3 piece and the ahwahnee trait is like a machine gun of death hahaha.... Yes its broken, but you know what? Its kind of nice to let loose and have some fun for awhile. 😆

I was really really bored and bought the set out a week ago and I'm actually not disappointed with the set. It's not the greatest but it's also not bad. I hope this is a trend. Bringing new sets to compliment older ones. I'd like to see them do something with Temporal weapons. I've been playing around with that set and the Inertial Supremacy trait and there is potential there.

You can also get the Colony consoles for the Tac slots. Really good passive heals from it but you do loose the Proton bonus.

One thing im not seeing anyone mention is the interstellar beam has a range a good bit outside the normal 10km attack range.

I am going to get a Cardy so I can access the spiral disruptors. I'm using Phaser now on the event ship and I think the Polaron might be ok too. I will have to try it on that ship. Might be fun but I will see for myself.Will also try it also on another ship that has a much higher hull but about the same on turning.

Would you make a version of this load out for the new T6 Dyson Ships? I'm trying to build a pure (or as close as possible) Proton dmg build.

My understanding of proton builds, or at least the ones I could find on the stobuilds reddit, is that the protonic polaron weapons are the one very niche and very specific exception to the 'reroll mods to dmg or crtd' that's part of the meta. I don't know if this is something you tested or not, but apparently rolling for crit h was a factor in those builds because of the way the proton proc worked. Mind you tho, that's from people who were specifically trying to maximise the damage potential of *proton specifically*, not their build overall. And a lot of these builds are from years ago, well before the current meta was established. So I suspect given that you parsed something like 3.5k dps for the proton burn proc it may not be that significant. (yes I have been thinking about a proton build for one of my characters for a long time now lol)

Makes sense considering Pahvo is nowhere near your ship in the first place. Range kinda went out the window with the very concept. 🤣

Its a must have set at the mo, im not even confident theyll fix it too, lets be honest they fix fuck all lol You dont need to change any of your builds just swap out the 3 pieces for others you got slotted thats it, now enjoy the CD reduction on everything lol

What about the D4x console (launch proton charges) does that do decent damage given all the +proton buffs you have here?

If you had 100% crit chance with this configuration you'd just barely exceed, on average, a [dmg] modifier for non-Voth enemies on the Protonic Polaron.

Damage & modifiers are not even that important, the set gives 100% haste on torps & energy weapons, its insanely good atm on almost every beam/canon or torp build even if the DMG type is mismatched.

Interested to try to make this set work on the Rex! What type of omni does the Pahvan count as (rep/mission vs. crafted/lockbox), and can it be equipped alongside the morphogenic weapon?

Look at weapon cycle time. Then put on the pahvo 3pc. Its giving 100% haste to energy weapon. This broken haste along with the cooldown from the pahvo set along with the other haste mistakes recently have me worried about the future of the game where glaring issues are going unaddressed. The broken ahwahnee trait and "fixed" ahwahnee consol are just too ridiculous

Like I said, the rare and uncommon are fine as well. My DOFF roster is maxed with purple and epic, I don't have room for lower quality ones.
