Alameda Runway Market is pretty good, it has size going for it but it needs a few things. It needs real toilets. Porta John in the hot sun are just inadequate. Second it needs shady places to sit and rest. It's so huge but there is not enough seating. Even at the food vendors there are not enough tables. I mean, I really enjoy sitting on a food truck bumper to eat my overpriced Bratwurst. Just not enough value for the shopper there.

I agree, move it and make room for the next...I do not repeat items in my sales...I believe that keeps the same buyers coming consistently to see what I have....they know it is always a fresh load.

Hi Pirate! I go to Alameda every few months. I have noticed in the last year that there are less vendors. You can't go there expecting to pay a couple of dollars for most things. This is supposed to be an antique faire. I think that Pirate is right that people can't drop money on things like this right now, the economy is horrible. However, it is fun to poke around and maybe get a good deal. You never know what you are going to find. That said, depending on how early you go, you could pay $20 to $5 to get in. Parking for customers is free. I went this month and when I left (I prefer to go early) the line to get in was the longest I have seen it and the traffic getting into the parking lot was out further than I have ever seen it. Don't know what was going on there. I have seen Pirate there in the past, although it was when he was selling a ton of stuff, not just furniture. Used to see Locker Nuts there sometimes too.

My sister and I make jewelry and have noticed that we are making about 1/3 of what we made three years ago. It is getting to the point where we are thinking about giving it up. Sad but true. Also noticing that they are charging so much now for a space just not worth it. The buyers just don't realize that the vendor expenses are so much higher than they used to be and that costs are having to be passed down to the customers.

I agree with you Storage Auction Pirate the vendor is being screwed!! Vendors are barely making ends meet. California economy is hurting!! We are seriously seeing if it is even worth it anymore. This year will determine if we will continue this business in the future. There is so much physical labor involved in a vendor business not to mention higher costs for everything. California vendors are just plain barely making it anymore.

This is supposed to be an antiques/vintage faire. It is not your run of the mill flea market. The later you go, the cheaper it is. It gets down to $5. I went at the beginning of this month. Parking for customers is free.

New truck prices are crazy. The last new truck my father bought before he retired was a new loaded 2wd chevrolet silverado. It was August of 87. New style 88 model. $16,000 plus tax.

Box trucks are tall it’s 2x more work to lift everything. Trailers are low with large ramps. I use both

We all invest differently . And have different levels of tax write off desires. Saving money is helpful i agree but when ya make a lot you got to do wise things . Time is more valueable then any dollar, in the moving business you learn to only touch stuff once. A lift gate means touching every piece . Twice! Or more. And also box trucks box ones . Require stopping at scales in California . And that has never been my cup of tea. BUT…. We do also own a 14 foot box truck we picked up for 7000$

Are you noticing that people in California are just not as free and easy with their money anymore? I have noticed the economy is really hurting. People are just being so much more careful with their money since they have so much less to spend. What are you seeing in regard to this issue?? I know the bay area has all the money in that state but we are all hurting here. Just don't have much left because of the economy to spend on "luxury" items! Too hard to even buy groceries , gas, rent and everything else now. Biden-nomics is killing everyone!
