I so appreciate that you don’t do click bait for headliners. You’re so honest and have so much integrity and I greatly appreciate it. It’s rare on KZbin. People everywhere are saying Paige Bueckers’s knee injury just to get you to click. Geno even said in the interview that she was going to be just fine.

Just want to clarify one point. Her ankle was also wrapped in ice and not just her knee. Praying for her to be okay. Agree no way it was a dirty play. ❤😢

. Geno Auriemma has a great sense of humor. Speaking about Paige's possible injury he said: "It's funny because we had someone at the scorer's table ready to check in. But she'll be fine. She looks good. I'm optimistic, let's put it that way."
@RobertDeMartinАй бұрын
Paige is so much more than a great basketball player. She is an eternal optimist and she has faith in God and believes she is here for a reason. She excels in whatever she does and it requires a lot of effort. She makes friends easily and is a people person. Her fan base consisting of people from around the world adore her and most are not shy to tell us they love her (as I do). She is a beautiful human being and fans from 9 to 99 years old cherish the moments they can watch her play and even watch those you tube clips where she is having fun with some of her teammates. When that play occurred on Sunday afternoon, the world literally stopped for all of her supporters. When you heard the quote, "You could hear a pin drop", it was the absolute truth . No one moved a muscle when she turned and put her face straight down onto the court. Stunned disbelief. Yes, thoughts about what will happen to UCONN if she was seriously injured surfaced but that thought came in second place to what everyone felt for Paige. Robin, besides the audience in the Arena, thousands (millions?) of us watching on TV felt exactly the same way. Then she struggled to her feet, uttered something in frustration about if there was a foul called on the play which everyone in the Arena heard even though it wasn't much more than a soft quote. At that point everyone began to breathe again. Of course, leave it to Paige to return to the court to try to let everyone know she'll deal with whatever happened and to stay close to her teammates. Oh, btw, lest we forget the crowd reaction was not a UCONN home court situation, it was Villanova's home court that day. To say that opposing players and their fans appreciate who Paige is and how she plays the game is an acknowledgement of how great she is.
@TheDisruptiveOneАй бұрын
I assume she is okay. Geno really downplayed the injury. And he really hasn’t done that with any injuries the last two years.
@ChefDeli87Ай бұрын
A lot of people who haven’t played highly organized basketball don’t understand there is a social contract where you play hard but don’t put anyone in a dangerous position. Yes she dove for the ball, but she rolled a bit after. There was certainly unnecessary extra contact.
@briana8332Ай бұрын
I do think that KK was close enough to go after that ball, before Paige even made her lunge at it, and I would imagine she’s thinking she should have, especially after the fact.
@kentcarlson1841Ай бұрын

It’s not hyper extension of the knee hyper extension of the knee usually occurs when it bends past. It’s normal range, which is usually in the opposite direction of the normal knee direction
@PhilChavanneАй бұрын
From the video though, she make a dive between Paige’s legs from a 3/4 back angle. They got entangled and the shock then pushed Paige further away. With the mass and kinetic energy of this type of move, the impact on the lower legs, ankles, and knees is very powerful. This is why they banned tackling from behind in soccer. Too many career-ending ankle and knee injuries.

I love Paige but she is injury prone. As play gets rougher I'm afraid she is going to get another tear. Stat padding is not worth it.
@Graybeard_Ай бұрын
100% agree on all points. I'm no fan of Geno at this point, but no wrong here. No wrong on Paige either. Crazy that some have been saying Paige needed to be more aggressive. Now it's she shouldn't be diving for balls (or in the game at all). lol I thought it was a great dive. : P Tough break at a critical time in the season though. Doubts will continue. I'm still confident that Paige will be fine, her ankle and her career going forward. Shout out to Strong, again. Other players like Hidalgo will get more shine, but Strong is a player who will produce for the next decade. To me this makes her really valuable.

Nicely done Robin. Not everything needs to have blame assigned. Nothing wrong with this play, it's good basketball. Just an unfortunate event. The only reason anyone is talking about it is because of media hype, media searching for the Clark replacement, and that she has unfortunately had several injuries previously.

Bueckers bounced the ball of her foot and lost control of it making it a loose or free ball. The defender NEEDS to try and pounce on it especially seeing you're down by thirty in the 3rd!! It was an unlucky "bounce" for Paige getting her leg pinned that way but ish like this happens ALL the time in basketball.
@FabrizioPati-i6fАй бұрын
Not a dirty game, but definitely borderline. If you go looking for the ball by throwing yourself against the legs planted on the ground of an opponent who already has his hands on the ball, the risk of hurting him is high, and sometimes really high
@roxydejaneiro5640Ай бұрын
Just like you don't trip, leg whip, elbow, etc on purpose. She purposely rolled into her legs to get the ball. Just because you're not trying to hurt someone doesn't mean it's not dirty play.

@rlrudedogАй бұрын
It was a basketball play that should have been better. Geno could have taken Paige out sooner only most times like the scores this happens around the 4th quarter. Two things that should have happened where Paige would not have gotten hurt. 1. The opposite player should not had dived to the ball seeing Paige's leg was in the way. 2. Paige should have positioned her body more clocking the ball then picking it up. Back in my time of playing before most of you were thought about and your parents may not have been born or in grade school, we were taught about noticing where everyone would be on the court and do not go after the ball like a crazy person. Our basketball coach was our Science and Chemistry teacher.

Geno Auriemma the well known orthopedic surgeon declares PB's knee is just fine. But seriously, no one wants to see a player injured, unfortunately PB seems injury prone (knee). This does not bode well for her viability in the roller derby melee aka the WNBA. Anyone who thinks she is now the 1# draft prospect is not paying attention.

Why would Genocide continue to let her play. They were winning. Bring to question if Paige will continue to have problems with injury. This kind of thing happens but can Paige handle the physicality in the WNBA. Genocide said early he had a sub coming in before it happen. Will this effect Paige mentally. Will see. 😊
@FabrizioPati-i6fАй бұрын
Many of you continue to treat Paige as if she were made of crystal, forgetting that last season she played at least 35 minutes per game and most of these as 4. For the right team mix it is necessary for the starters to also play garbage minutes

how is she mentally, she is already passive. now she would be even more.
@cbrend22Ай бұрын
She’s avg 27pt oer 40 minutes, she’s far from passive. There’s a big difference between being a no conscience gunner like CC and JuJu and a leader who sets the tone on the D end and gets everyone involved. With the exception of the Louisville game, she’s avg 26/7/6 against ranked teams and was better than that in the post season last year. There’s a reason she’s gotten three avg teams to the FF. She changes the entire tenor of the game when she’s in, she gets doubled all the time and opens up everything and is the only one who takes last shots and clutch shots, and certainly the only one who makes them. This guy is right, it was just an accident and Geno was NOT at fault. Period
@almawasilewskiАй бұрын
@@cbrend22The only leader I have seen is CC. She takes losing teams to the Finals. Paige has a stacked Team and wants to go to a stacked Team. That's not a Leader. It's a good player on a stacked Team.
