The level crossing found on a very busy main road in Paignton Town Centre at the top of Torbay Road which leads down towards the seafront. This level crossing is very busy for pedestrians with quite wide footways on both sides (though one is wider than the other), and it's also quite busy for vehicles. The station next to here is the terminus for the main line, and at the other end the Dartmouth Steam Railway, and all services passing over this level crossing (main-line trains only this end) don't do so very quickly. Palm-like trees can be seen growing in the station thanks to this area's warm climate, giving it the nickname 'The English Riviera'.
Although there are just two alarms here, each is very loud even in this busy environment. Two of the four barriers are of the longest kind here, and there is a total of 5 LED wigwags accompanying four additional pedestrian lights, three of which are on separate smaller masts with the other one found underneath an extra set of lights for a small side road leading to the Dartmouth Steam Railway station, as part of quite a quirky set-up in that corner of the level crossing. There is also a footbridge for people to use when the barriers are down, though this can get very congested especially in the height of the Summer when all the tourists visit the area.
A total of 5 different lowerings each filmed within the space of just over an hour here are featured in this video, all of which feature Great Western Railway Class 150s on services to and from Exmouth via Exeter. The absence of the former 'Pacer' trains which could be seen on my previous visit here really reduces the variety of traction. Apologies if some of the camerawork isn't up to usual standards, it's because of how busy the location is and I was looking at where I was treading more at times.
Since these videos were filmed, Torbay Road (the road on which this level crossing is located) has become pedestrianised, as has this level crossing.

I was there in June 2022 when i was staying at Torquay between 6th to 10th with The Open Door Centre Swindon Wiltshire. vehicle shot of it on 7th June heading to Dartmouth from Torquay and film it after been on Steam train with my friends. Also let my black umbrella on the fence near the crossing.

Never ceases to amaze me, the stupidity of folk. The alarm sounds so they run past the footbridge to race the barriers.
