Loved watching this video. Memories of working in Torquay. Have visited Paignton since 1960s, had family friends there. Even with the new buildings the towns haven't changed much. Love Paignton pier. The new hotel is in a great position for sea views. 😊

Oh, so pleased you enjoyed it Caroline! I love the pier too! I like the structure and architecture of it and the fun of it too!

Thank you Louise for this video - a really lovely coastal stroll. Some brilliant videography, and nice little visual vignettes. Looked like the weather was good, despite the light shower. I would prefer to stay in the older hotel rather than the newer one. Indeed, I have stayed in that one in Torquay (The Grand Hotel) that you showed in the video when I was on a business conference in the early 2000s. Wonderful! Hope you have a great week. Paul

Thank you Paul! Oh that’s lovely that you got to stay in The Grand! What a place to stay while on business!

What a delightful walk, the views really were lovely. I think on balance I would prefer to stay in an older hotel with a bit of character. Thanks for taking us out on a super spring day.

Great video Louise. It looked amazing. Shame about the little bit of rain but I'm sure you enjoyed it there. The new hotel being built is in a brilliant spot, and the views will be fantastic.

South West Sundays on a Tuesday lunchtime for me! And what a lovely walk. Watching as I'm having my lunch and loved being transported to such a beautiful area. I would LOVE to do that walk one day - I had no idea it was possible to walk from Paignton to Torquay!. Also did I hear correctly that the sun was warm and did I see correctly - people were swimming!!! It looks just lovely at this time of year and I can imagine it'll be a bit busier in the Summer. This is a great time of year to visit!

Thank you Alex! I noticed a sign in Torquay suggesting health walks to Paignton that were about 5km, so that gave me the idea to walk between the two. I am so much looking forward to walking loads more of the South West coast this spring and summer. Yes, people were swimming and the sun was burning through my jeans! I bagged a perfect day for this walk!

Hi Louise, That was a lovely stroll along the coast, the sea was a mill pond. I would much prefer to stay in a hotel with some character rather than modern. Here in Spain there is the chain of hotels called "Paradores" often sited in historic buildings, convents, castles, hunting lodges. Not all are historic though but all to a very high standard. You will find others too like the Castillo de Monda near Marbella. I enjoyed staying at the Southern Cross Tea Rooms although it was a bit cramped. Shame about the rain but it was still a great walk, well done!! Have a great Sunday!!

Thank you David! Yes, the sea was very mill pond ish. Oh those Spanish hotels sound a great option. I must look at visiting the Southern Cross Tea Rooms. It sounds totally up my street! 🤗

Thanks Louise, really enjoyed watching the lovely video of your walk from Paignton to Torquay, which was one of mine and Heather's favourite walks, as she loved it so much, and it brings back so many happy memories we had. Good to know The Inn on the Green is still there on the seafront in Paignton, as that was a favourite pub of ours! 😊 keep up the good work,Louise, many thanks, Martin

Yet another large hotel going up in Torquay. Surprising that they all manage to stay in business. particularly in the winter.

It is! It’s great that it will provide more employment. I hope it generates the income it needs. I imagine it will be a fantastic venue for conferences and events … hopefully year round ones.

Last time we visited we had some fish and chips from Paignton pier and as it was raining we took them back to the car parked on the seafront to enjoy and look out to sea, very enjoyable.

Oh yum!! Love fish and chips in the car watching the sea! Perfect! I went to that chip shop on the pier before returning on an evening train after making the video and they were really excellent! 😋

Lovely video of somewhere we have become very attached to as our son has moved to Preston which is between Paignton and Torquay. Have you seen the proposed plans for the Redcliffe Hotel? Totally out of character for Paignton.

Thank you John! It’s a lovely area to be attached to. Yes, I have seen what tye Redcliffe Hotel may become. I agree with you. Very out of character for Paignton.

I was wondering how long it would take to walk from Paignton to Torquay when I was there last year, whilst a bit more of a road walk the views of the sea makes it worthwhile 😁 Good to see the pasty shop on the pier open again - their pasties are lush!

Oh nice! I will have to try them! Yes, I agree about the sea views making it worth while. 🚶♀️

Hi Louise. In answer to your question. I would prefer to stay in a traditional hotel rather than a new one. I really enjoyed your walk. Lovely weather for it too. I, to like to walk near to the waters edge. Certainly plenty of fish and chips to be had around there and just for you... ice creams. I noticed a walk from Seaton to Lyme Regis, so I'll take a look at that one later. Take care young lady. See you again.
@SouthWestSundays6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I really like the modern ones but am keen to try a traditional hotel one day. There are so many beautiful looking ones along the coast. Watch this space and I will review one when I can. Seaton to Lyme Regis was my very first video and it got a copyright claim, so I had to cover some of my talking with different music - that one is worth a watch to see how far I have come since starting out my video making journey about two and a half years ago. I re made it last year, so it maybe that one which you have noticed. I hope you enjoy it or them. 🤗 It’s a really beautiful walk.
