FansToys usually does it for me, I mean I thought my XTB Aegis was perfect until FT Outrider came along, discount made it even sweeter. However, in this case I do not see the need to switch out my TE Mirage for the FT version at all.

Agree. While I would say overall it’s a better figure, it’s not by much and there are things that are quite weak for me like articulation and colors. I don’t see any compelling reason to run its and upgrade if you have TE unless you hate TE for a particular reason.

Te is still the best for me. The colour is better the face is miles better than the putty looking ft version. The pale blue on the ft is horrible. But they did fill in the sides of the figure unlike te. But the bonus over the ft is mine was just a touch over £50.

I can’t see anyone else putting out another MP scale G1 Mirage unless Takara does in the future. With tat being said, for that G1 toon look, Fanstoys and TE set the standard. H

Great review, Paik. I'm glad you had the three different versions up for comparison. I can see why people like the TE version so much. I have the Ocular Max and it's great but feels a lot cheaper than a typical FT. Wish FT would do better with articulation though. I was too late for the poll but suspect I'll replace my Sphinx with FT. Thanks again!

I think if you don’t have TE then it’s definitely a worthwhile upgrade to FT. I really liked Ocular Max when it first came out but it does feel dated now by comparison. Just goes to show how much things have advanced in just a few years.

Thanks for the thorough review. I usually swap out every other 3rd party's version with Fans Toys, but TE looks better to me. So Speed Star stays and my pre-order is cancelled. I just saved $180 and all without switching to Geico. Fans Toys is losing their top dog status imo. Not touching their Blaster either.

"without switching to Geico" line had me rolling LOL. I think Phantasm is overall best but for me robot mode on TE is better and the price premium makes it hard to recommend to anyone who already has TE for sure.

Ft is the best mp here, but I'm frustrated with the lack of articulation, even FT UM looks like a brick, i might go with XTB UM, hopefully its a good. one

I don’t know why I expect more articulation with FT. they rarely do above average articulation and often have really weird choices. I should just go in expecting less from them in that department. Lol

Nice review as always Paik. There's just something that doesn't quite look right with the FansToys compared to the TE, might be the panels on the knees and the light blue paint, but can't see the need to swap out the TE.

Yeah it doesn't seem like a "definitive" enough version to really justify "upgrading" to FT. But 67% of the poll respondents seem to indicate otherwise!

The biggest problem with the fans toys are the wheels on the feet when in robot mode are inside out and the TE has them facing out like the 80s cartoon.

@@guille5959 you can leave them turned out if you prefer. In the beginning I accidentally had one turned out. So you have that option.

@@Paik4Life If you leave them out they stick out because they are not meant to be that way because it's mis transformed instead of having the choice to have them one way or another. So you don't have a choice really since it's supposed to be inside out as opposed to the transform element which are tucked in just like in the 80s cartoon.

That’s how it is with FT preorders. But they typically have some cancellations or folks who fail to pay so they usually put up a couple more later. Also they have an additional batch coming in the future but it’s by boat so it’ll be slower.

@@Paik4Life Thanks for the reply. That Toy Guy (channel name) did tests on many third party figures' paint for lead. Most failed. He didn't test a Fans Toys figure. The paint laws are different in China than around the world. Paint with lead in is cheaper. I just looked on eBay and the tests are about $15. I'll ask Dalianjj what the situation is. With the amount of paint scratches on some Fans Toys figures, I feel it's important to know.
