Every time i see people react to this arc, i feel anew why Pain is not only my favorite villain, but my favorite character in Naruto. He justified his god complex so well at this point in the story - the dialogue, the ideology, the power, the actions (Jiraiya, Kakashi, the whole of Konoha), and of course the soundtrack. Man's just on a whole other level here.

​@@Kelibarth nah i disagree, his whole stick is that pain forces one to grow up, in order to force them to see their errors, one has to endure so much pain that the only Realisation left is to abandon the way that lead to this point. what he is basically saying is, war has hurt the leaf, but from all parties they profited the most, so to realise that war is unacceptable they have to be on the receiving end, just like him and the other orphans of a powerless country.

He has always seemed the most fitting to be the "leader" of the Akatsuki to me, I know technically he reports to Madara/Tobi, but he just has such a great presence, especially with his voice, his godly theme music, etc. The first time he explains his plan (to Hidan) he says they will control all 9 tailed beasts and thus be the undisputed power in the ninja world, marking the end of the old system of ninja villages (world domination, as he puts it). Then, when he's talking to Jiraiya later he elaborates that there's more to it. By using the power of the tailed beasts he will unleash destruction around the world, basically nuking villages, slaughtering people from every nation. As he said, only those who know pain can understand true peace. His theory is that the people of the post-apocalyptic world will be so averse to war after his actions, that they will set aside old grudges and do anything to avoid another catastrophe, thus creating a lasting peace. It's a crazy plan, but there is a certain logic to it. If he is successful its possible that his plan would really work, but at what cost? His victims will definitely die and the world will be hellish, but what if his actions prevent other wars that would have led to even more suffering? It's decision making on the level of gods, weighing the value of different timelines based on how many millions die. This dude is nuts, but he believes his own smoke and has the power to pull it off.

If you remember ep 158-159, Tsunade mentioned that Katsuyu was attached to most, if not all, ninjas and civilians in the village.. so at least most are absorbed by Katsuyu.

That's the moment Tsunade became a legendary s- tier Hokage. Tsunade is what they attempted to do with Sakura, but failed to achieve. Tsunade is actually one of the strongest fighters, but not on the god level of Hashirama, Minato or Naruto and definetly not on the level of Pain or Madara. She know's her strengths and limits. She is god tier in medical ninjutsu, to which maybe only Naruto comes close later on after mastering the Kyuubi chakra. Protecting an entire village from a nuke is a different kind of badass. She had enough faith in her comrades to take down Pain, so she just made sure everyone survived. It's the same move Naruto makes when Momoshiki attacks the Shunin trials and he tanks the blast instead of defeating Momoshiki right then and there (which he probably could have). Protecting your comrades should always come before everything else, even defeating your opponent. When everyone is safe, you can still win later. Victory at the cost of your comrades is not worthy of a Hokage.
