When you said around the 6 minute mark you hadn't really thought of death until you were in your 50's actually amazed me as someone under 30 who has had depression and thought about death constantly since early teen life. Such a difference, makes me wonder if my and younger generation have been over exposed to these sorts of subjects and issues and are struggling to cope with such heavy topics at such young ages.
@TwoOldDudes3 жыл бұрын
Don't think you're alone in feeling that way. The Internet has definitely had a hand exposing people to subjects at a much earlier age plus the stresses created from social media. It's definitely more difficult for teens to navigate the stresses today than it was when we grew up. But we have faith in you! Stay strong and thanks for the insightful comment!

The symbol from my knowledge represents “Anarchy” however the individual may personally perceive it as more than just the dictionary term. For some rebellion, some following the path less taken. It’s prominent in this music culture. At least that’s from my knowledge. And to give you a gauge of the age range that relates to this music, I’m 20. I have friends older and younger who listen. It resonates with a lot of us teens and young adults sadly.

"lil peep star shopping" a lot of lil peeps music speaks what myself and many other young people just can't get out in words. for instance "this is the song i played when i crashed into the wall" i listened to that song when i overdosed in a homeless hostel when I was 17 and was in a coma for 3 days I was lucky to survive and it was not until i listened back to the music i had been listening to that night and many before that i realized the music i had been listening to was, in fact, saying every thought that had been going through my head. (no it was not the music that caused me to be in a bad state i didn't have the best start in life being in adoption and foster care and many homeless hostels due to breakdown in adoption placement im only 21 now) the music kept me going and also helped my partner at the time to figure out i was in a bad place and phoned an ambulance to where i was living. rest in peace lil peep you helped me through so much and you never even knew.

As someone that’s just 20 years old, since I was 14-16 I have been dealt into a losing match with depression and trauma. From familial trauma to bullying Pretty much my whole life, at 16 I was officially diagnosed with severe depression/anxiety aswell as adhd. At 16 years old I had thoughts of ending my life, to a point I had to be stripped of all emotion with high strength anti- depressants. At 16 up till around 18 I had to cope with my issues by mixing things, I won’t get into detail but there’s a sick realization of how much things have changed, and how nowadays things like physical bullying and outside influences have on people. It took years to figure things out and I still have issues daily. Only difference at 20 is that I have the privilege to be an EMT now, I get to cope with my problems by helping people. I’m sorry if I overshared, I just wanted to give insight on why someone so young (myself) would have thoughts such as the ones I had at my age. And there are some people much younger that have had the same experiences.

Its almost unbelievable that you haven’t thought of death until your 50s, that’s truly a blessing. Most people where I’m from see death very early on in life (preteen-teen years) and once you see that it’s almost impossible to get it out of your head, the constant company of the reaper ushers you further and further from comfort until you either break or accept it. We have a saying in my neighborhood “17 is a blessing but by 21 your stressing” the oldest man in my area was 35 before he thankfully left and moved on with his life none of us have any hope for the future. Thank you for sharing your guys take on this subject as it hits close to home for a lot of us younger folks

Yeah it's really fucked up. I was heavily bullied at 11/12 years old so that might have left some unresolved trauma even though both me and my therapist are fairly sure it didn't but from pretty much that moment onwards I just lived with that thoughts and depression. I obviously always knew that I wasn't the complete norm but even talking with some of my friends through the following years (after switching school from that assholes who bullied me) it always astounded me just how much happier people were, just how much less they thought about all that grim shit constantly sitting in my brain. It sometimes almost feels like they live in an entirely different reality - how can they be this contempt and happy with live?? But of course they're my friends so I'm happy for them. I just hope that some day I could live like them, not think about death till my 50s and just live an average life - 8 years of this are enough!
