Absolutely stunner of a painting. Thanks for putting up the time lapse, very informative to see the steps you take. I do see you going from big to small but there is not much refining of the big shapes themselves i.e. you seem to get the drawing in place pretty quickly. Whereas I find myself putting in a rough sketch and refining and refining both sketch and colours... This has me working on edges a lot. Hmmmm, there's a lesson there: refine sketch and determine what are details for later and what are the big things that need to go in now. Only then start on the colours and from there be less sloppy.

Definitely. It's like building a house. Get the foundation in first and get happy with that. Add details later :)

my question was the previous one, as l tend to put the background in first. Thankyou beautiful painting

Cool painting Mark. Love the attention to detail on the leaves. Absolute corker. I'm guessing 6 - 8 layers of paint? 😃😃

Never would have guessed how much of the background got laid in after the foreground. How do you keep those lines that crisp when you do that

The painting looks awesome. What blue did you use for the sky here 5:45 if you don't mind me asking.

Mark - question for you. The Pandana's are the focal point- can I ask why you blocked that in first then put background in ? As I have said many times - i could watch you paint all day !
@ExploreAcrylics Жыл бұрын
Hey Michelle - I like to get the bones in first, so I know where everything goes. Lay the foundation first as they say, then add the details. Sometimes I get a bit caught up in putting the bones in and they become detailed though :D Kind of easier to repaint the sky in the background rather than repaint pandanus leaves over the already painted sky, if that makes any sense!

He's painting in the foliage FIRST!?! NOT SMART!! 😢
@ExploreAcrylics Жыл бұрын
No one ever accused me of being smart lol - however I am definitely lazy so will always find the easiest way to do something, especially with painting. It can be a lot easier to move foliage elements around if you need to before painting the background. More difficult to do it the other way around if you need to move things around, especially with a complex subject like a pandanus.
