This is a useful piece of furniture. Frequently the base is all I find and so I paint it and put wheels on it. It could be a TV cart, a microwave cart or a portable bar. The top can be hung on a wall for display. I hate the cut outs on the shelf support.

Hey Zeb I hate flies not just nasty but aggravating. I pour regular Lysol along our garage door when we have the door open to keep flies out I also spray around all of the enter doors flies they don't like Lysol. Hope this helps. Jami wishing you a great consult my daughter wants to have it done as well she's 21 when she's 23 she can have it done.

Hi ! Recently started watching you guys and I'm hooked😍 qiuco question... Do u guys prep ur furniture before u paint ? Primer?
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
Not usually. Occasionally if it’s got a really shiny finish we’ll use high bond primer. The paints we use are minimal prep often only requiring cleaning the piece with soap and water. Here’s a video on using the high bond. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYGbZn1sbdeBpM0 jamirayvintage.com/products/high-bond-primer

Hi. If you were to use the DIY paint on a surface that was not sanded down and then you used it on the same piece but on the surface that you DID NOT sand down. Would it change the finish of the furniture? Thanks💛
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
No really. The idea behind doing a light sand on furniture is to give it a little tooth so the DIY paint has something to grab onto. It’s not necessary for adhesion with diy paint though.

@@JamiRayVintage I'm so obsessed with your channel. Haha. I think I'm driving everyone crazy around me
@englishcharm24496 жыл бұрын
Fab texture on this, but I have a question about it... won't you lose all of that when you sand it down? The areas that are built-up with a lot of paint will surely become flat after sanding?
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
Some might. I may just hand sand the edges. We usually don’t sand too much. Just enough to knock off the loose stuff. We’ll see though! I haven’t decided lol.

@salvagedcountrycharm-alici32166 жыл бұрын
I kinda want to try it. Wondering your thoughts
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
Yes. It works really well in a monochromatic scheme. You can just add a little white or a little black to change the tiny slightly. I just did a gray dresser that I did this with milk paint and it turned out great.

Any suggestions on what I can use instead of a squidgy as I don't have one? Thanks
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
A metal or plastic putty knife can do similar things. Press lightly to start to make sure it doesn’t remove too much paint and take the finish down to the wood.

Jami, I think that you told everyone about Offer Up? If you did, thank you because I've found some really great local deals on there. Have you used their shipping? It's super affordable, and I don't know how they keep the price so low. I've just made offers on a couple pieces and I'm waiting to hear back from the sellers. Have you (or anyone one else who reads this) bought or sold using their shipping? If so, how did it work out? Thank you!
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
I haven’t used their shipping but now I’m interested!

Update: I tried to buy two different items, and I haven't heard back from either of the sellers though. The communications are on a separate feed than local sellers. I'll keep trying...but it might be another way for you to buy and sell.

Hi first of all I love y'all Channel I have never used chalk paint or milk paint but I do have two long dressers and a night stand IAM going to do so correct me if I'm wrong if I use the milk paint I don't necessarily have to use a primer or anything before that I can just give it a rough sand down and slap it on also I am looking for a vintage yellow could I get any recommendations from you please thanks
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the milk paint. It’s minimal prep. I really like curry in milk paint but we have a few other yellows if that’s not what you’re looking for. jamirayvintage.com/collections/milk-paint/products/curry-sweet-pickins-milk-paint

This doesn't pertain to this video but I need advice on how to clean my paint sprayer that is clogged. I have tried, taken it apart and tried to clean it multiple times without any luck. I have not used anything except soap and water. Thank you in advance.
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
What sort of sprayer do you have?
@rosamjones6 жыл бұрын
It is a Campbell Hausfeld gravity fed with air compressor. Bought it at Harbor Freight...I think. It has a large gun and a small gun with it thank goodness....the small one has the clog.
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
I would take all the pieces apart and boil them (except the hopper) for several minutes in a pan you don’t care about. Then use a wire brush and pipe cleaner on every surface and hole that you can. Boiling the pieces should soften everything up and break the clog free.
@rosamjones6 жыл бұрын
Oh great!!!!! I didn't even think of that!!!!! Thank you so much! You guys rock and roll!

I just found a product called evapo-rust (super safe rust remover) in Autozone. It took bad rust off a set of vintage dresser wheels better than I hoped. Its user friendly, can be used inside and resuable if you filter it, I used a coffee filter and put it into a separate glass re-used jar, not into the gallon jug I bought. I had used the vinegar/baking soda mixture for them before and it just did not do the trick. I think this product would do well with the rusty tools, just make sure and let them soak long enough, wire brush to see the progress, you can soak more if need be. Rinse well and treat with an oil so the rust does not come back. Good Luck.

Thanks! I’ll look into it

Your welcome, its even enviromental friendly, which you don't always find with a product that works so well. There are other users on the net that have had good results too. Mostly tool and car parts folks, which I am not, I'm into furniture. I do stained furniture and only paint if Its too far gone to re-finish and usually into wood tones. Surprising how enjoyable working on furniture can be. I have worked on pieces from having to pretty much gut and rebuild to fairly simple, not necessarily easy to do, fixing stain loss for one reason or another. I really enjoy watching you folks, and even tho its hard watching a lovely wood piece be painted sometimes, there is a market for everything and you have found your designer nitch.
