Once the piece is dry - sand down and away from the edges of your project to avoid damage. Also, if you tear the tissue paper, rather than cutting it, the edges will blend better.

***HOW TO USE IRON TO DECOUPAGE, EASY!! I’ve been doing this method after trying traditional, tearing, wrinkles, mess, I QUIT! Saw this, haven’t looked back! Do EXACT SAME STEPS you did above, BUT let your “decoupage medium dry (I use min wax water base sealer dries in 15-30 min tops). Once dry, decide placement of image and lay it down, set a regular clothes iron (I use a travel size) set on HIGH/COTTON, NO STEAM (I never use this iron for anything but, no risk residual water) next place a piece of paraffin paper OVER IMAGE to protect, then start moving the iron (I use circles, swirling) all over surface, keep iron moving, tilt on edges to ensure it’s down, pick up paper look for any loose areas (especially edges) then your done!! It looks like it’s hand painted!! I did a da Vinci painting (printed from computer) on buffet doors and EVERYONE THINKS it was hand painted! Apply top seal coat (it WILL BUBBLE UP LOOK FUNNY, DONT WORRY) allow to dry again, re-iron using same method, and it’ll go back to flat/perfect! Sand edges for straight even line on overhang, DONE!! Simply put, the irons heat reactivates the sealer snd “melts/bonds the image onto the surface without worry of tear or wrinkle, especially since starting , laying image down dry! You’ll LOVE THIS!! I’ve done smalls (chicken cutout with stand, a “&” symbol cut out of wood approx 5-6” thick… just used CURLING IRON IN tight areas iron couldn’t reach, and even piece of cardboard cut to size of empty frame! Nobody would know unless they flipped to look, no “zeb” to cut wood if I had it!, dresser tops, drawers (line up on their side just like applying large transfer!) Your papers are STUNNING, MOST UNIQUE, , Colorful I’ve ever seen. Ordering ASAP! ZEB THIS IS NO FAIL CANT GO WRONG, JUST do it!! PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET! Imake it really easy and do a cutting board 1st doesn’t get easier! I see these replacing transfers (once people learn easy way and aren’t intimidated), more bang for buck!! Can’t wait to see your 1st item when your done, and the look on your face! When you realize how easy and stress free this is! Forgot to mention ceramic tile “coasters” with a GORGEOUS toile image , and big top coat ! Please TAPE IT (can always throw away?!? But you won’t!) I really want to see the look on your faces!! Keep up the hard work and great videos! I hope I hear something, somehow once you do this! Cindy

Question for anyone who's done decoupage before: Do you have to use tissue thin paper, or can you use something like scrapbooking paper thickness?
@JamiRayVintage2 жыл бұрын
We prefer the 18# tissue paper but we’ve done as thick as card stock. When doing thicker papers it’s all about the decoupage medium. Liquid patina has been our go to. jamirayvintage.com/products/diy-crystal-clear-chandelier-liquid-patina-diy-paint?_pos=3&_sid=4fece50be&_ss=r

I grew up in the 60-70’s with a decoupage master (Mom). She did all kinds of papers. Four coats of medium on TOP of paper. When completely dry, soak paper in water and gently roll paper off the back. The image will stay on the medium and can be placed on the project.
