Interesting find. Campbell's tomato soup can sits down in a chunky soup can real well. I think I'm going to give it a shot

hmm, I think I'll also give it a try.

I enjoyed this video. Thanks for the help on a build that I am wanting to do. The comment of using a matching air flow regulator is an excellent addition to this. The wind screen could be set into the groove for the paint lid (unfortunately it would make the build longer). The trivet, with a small hole in the windscreen could be locked into the windscreen to make them stay in place. I plan to use my suggestions and from the other commenters on my build using your design. Again thank you for this video for providing me with this information and inspiration.

I'm glad my video is helpful for you. Drilling a hole in the pot stand for trivets is a good idea. If I build another stove or maybe I'll mod and existing stove to your idea. Have fun with your build, I did.

Does another hole or two in the outer can really make a difference when the whole bottom is missing?
@planetsideagent2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if the stove is sitting flush on the ground otherwise no.

Just make a metal sleeve to go around the bottom with the same amount of holes. Than by just moving the sleeve you can control the amount of air flow. I have done this and it works.

The cans must be different than they used to be. My two came apart when I put a pot stand on top. I had to set the inner can on another can and put it all back together while it was burning.

That's possible. Did you use a Progresso soup can and use an inside the lid type can opener? ie. the side cutter type can openers would not work.
@ricksorber95622 жыл бұрын
@@planetsideagent all the cans I've seen here have pull top. Do you use the opener on them or can you get still get the others? I'll have to check another store and see if they have the other style. I did try a 22 ounce Bush's Grillin' Beans can. It was a little tighter but I haven't tested it yet.

I was in the store yesterday and it looks like Progresso has changed their can design. I'll have to pull out my old burner can and take it to the store to see if i can find a match.

I got a can of Progresso today and check it against the ones I used to the stove, they are the same, and pull topped. It may be that you didn't get the can tapped all the way into the paint can groove.

@@planetsideagent that might be what it was. I got a block of wood and gave it a few whacks. I think it's in there now. I can shake it and it doesn't fall out. I only had it pressed in before. Thanks!

you stove seems to burn with a lot of high flame. If you build a burn pot with much less primary air (fewer primary holes) the burn will slow down heat up dramatically and burn longer and with much lower emission (less smoke less soot and less CO). consider target Primary to Secondary ratios (P:S) of 1:5 - 1:6 (Primary on the bottom secondary on the top for readers who are not sure).
@planetsideagent4 жыл бұрын
I should give that a try, its easy enough to swap out the burner cans. For my final build I used a Solo stove as a guide on how many holes to have. The Solo stoves burn really well.
