It depends on many things, like temperature and if you are working in direct sunlight. Therefore, no one can really say “wait x minutes before wiping down.” To make sure the coating is cured, wipe a little area of your car with your finger and if it wipes that area clean with no streaks, it’s ready to be wiped down, but if it wipes smeared, like you are just smearing the coating along the paint, it wasn’t cured yet and you need to wait longer.

Now I don’t have a KZbin video on paint correction but over my 9 years doing this work I do recommend masking all the trim/rubber and black trim because it’s a pain to clean all those areas and some areas might not even clean up good enough and it’s just a headache you’ll be saving your self from ppl.

Any reason why at this point in your detailing career you haven't progressed to Rupes or Flex polishers and Sonax, Menzerna, Angelwax or other high end polishes.

I recently had a good Freind of mine come to me asking about paint correction, as I own a paint correction shop and we do coatings as well. He mentioned your videos so I took a look great work but I don’t see how you did a FULL paint correction with a 5”/6” buffer especially on intake vents mirrors, fender lips, and recessed or small creases in the body?

You can, I’ve been doing it personally and for others, different techniques as these, but it works, obviously you can get a better finish on edges with smaller buffers, but you don’t have to use a buffer on tight areas, especially where it doesn’t fit, you can buff or polish by hand, it’s a lot more work, and it all depends on the level of detail the customer wants and is willing to pay for, but it can be done, example: I can do my whole car and I’ve done other cars with just my 6” G9, except for some aluminum rims with many spokes, for that, if someone asked me to do their car, I’d ask if they want me to do a full detail on their tires and rims and if so, I’d buff and polish them out by hand

Generally, if there are normal scratch marks on some part of the car, they will be everywhere else too. The only types of scratches that you can get in concentrated areas are random ones, like if someone’s keys scraped your door, even if you don’t see a lot of scratches on your trunk door, for example, it’s a good idea to just buff it out too to make it glossy and polished, which is what every detailed is looking for. I haven’t seen a detailer only buff one area of a car.

I had a hazy layer as i think due to overheat from the engine bay when I was ceramic coating, I have done couple of black cars and where perfect but the Klugar I am working on just now, has left an over layer of fogy hazy colour on the front bonnet whish is pissing me so much right now, I left the engine bay cool down for two hours, yet it F me up so hard. Been doing detailing for over than 5 years and this is my first mistake which it is killing me from the inside, i feel broken and overwhelmed as i spend almost 30 hrs working on this car inside and outside, using Geyon duraflex. Can you polish a car after ceramic coating? I have Opticoat on mine and I find that I’m starting to see hairline scratches already and it hasn’t even been a year (my car is black, hard to keep it looking fresh). WWDGD What Would Detail Geek Do?

Just followed your steps and using all the products you recommended on my 2005 Toyota Tundra. It took me two days to do it all. The paint hasn’t looked this good since new. I will do all this for my Jeep and my wife’s Mazda as well. Thanks for posting this tutorial.

I just bought a black 2015 yukon denali that I need to have done this way. Hard to trust anyone with black. I had a black tahoe that I had a door ding fixed on the whole door was swirled afterwards so it makes me nervous finding someone worthy. You done an excellent job! Wish I had you here in the states. Lol I did find a guy that does Lamborghini's so I hope he is capable of fixing my black paint. His details start at $350.

Juan. I’m taking delivery of a Rubicon shortly. Can I wash, iron out, clay and ceramic coat? Do I have to buff on a brand new car. I mean I can buff when the weather gets nicer but since I’m in New York and in the middle of the winter I don’t want to buff in the cold. I want to get a level of protection on quickly. Let me know. Let's take the same car, same scenario If I use a polisher and put rubbing compound and finish it with a polishing compound, would it do the same result? What does the paint correction do? Would the rubbing and polishing compound do the same? Thx again

Mr Geek, what would you recommend for the black fenders on a Jeep Wrangler? Would the 303 hold up to mud, snow, salt brine and sun, or would you recommend another product for being in the elements?

So you cut it with microfiber to remove the swirls then coated it.... Microfiber pads leaves micro marring which is shown on the hood & you left it.. You need to use foam after microfiber to clean up your work & get rid of any micro marring! You need Led lights to show the true quality of paint. The light you use is to simulate sunlight, which does hide all the little imperfections.

A girlfriend of mine and her husband drive a few hours away and get both their Silverado's ceramic coated every year and drive home same day. Thought about doing that with my Maxima SR but now I'm a bit concerned it's maybe not done right after watching your video?
