Excellent video this week! For your next video: Guide for batch painting all your spearhead armies. Would be a nice opportunity to cover: 1) how to plan batch painting for a spearhead force (tools; model prep; sub assemblies; color scheme/basing; schedule). 2) Principles for painting in batches (i.e., goal-setting; small v. large batches; maintaining momentum across multiple batch-painting sessions; what areas of the model to start with; use of color; how to identify high versus low impact paint areas; speed vs. slow approaches to batch painting) 3) Intermediate techniques to elevate a batch paint (e.g., streaking grime, pigment powders, effects paints, etc. Which work well for batch painting? Which don't?) 4) What to do at the end of a batch paint. Most army painting vids tend to emphasize the early stages with the goal of getting something on the table. What things should be considered at the end of batch painting? 5) Any spear-head specific considerations for batch painting? (basing to match spearhead board; expanding spearhead to full army) Keep up the amazing work!

I've recently bounced back into painting after getting discouraged years ago, in large parts thanks to your video's showing contrast paints and drybrushing. I am very perfectionist, and struggle to find joy in my own work, which meant I used to bounce away from miniature painting, never quite happy with the result. I found out about slapchop existing, and I ended up doing a lot of research, including several videos posted on this channel. And you guys really brought back like...a joy of painting I've not felt since I was a kid. I finished up a few miniatures a few days ago that I spent way too much time on, but I am genuinely so proud of how they turned out. It's been such a boost to my self-esteem. So... thanks for spreading the joy of the craft. Since I am also painting miniatures that feature canopies and cockpit glass; I'd love to see your take on that. The jewelling technique I'm using relies a lot on wet-blending, and it's one I'm getting acceptable results out of, but it's not quite there yet. Would love to see if there's a way you would tackle it!

My tip - dont be scared to mix contrast paints (or any paing for that matter) on the model itself. The smoother graident and visual punch is more familier to the human eye especially in skin tones where they are very rarely uniform

content suggestion: the Scaventide box has two 'competing' mounted heroes. A head to head around the differences in how you would approach & paint each to make them most suit their faction would be awesome. eg The rat you just painted had a real fast but quality feel to it which could be extended to hordes of rats. How would the hero be painted using the same priciples to fit with the larger army. cheers!

This is a fantastic suggestion, I've actually just started recording a somewhat similar theme... but it's on the ame mini (more stages: more fancy + slower). Your format is a lot more fun though!
@popcorngenerator19255 ай бұрын
Not necessarily linked to the skaventide box, but something I’d like to see more of at some point is some more in depth look in regards to creating a colour pallet for a mini (not necessarily just an army) and some of the decisions that go into a well thought out piece. So things like -composition across the miniature -biasing colours to be warmer or cooler depending on other colours on the miniature (I think this comes up a lot for blacks, whites and metallics) -how that might affect your basing colours to contrast or compliment. That sort of thing. So probably more applicable to characters or display pieces?

Since I began painting Skaven my goal has always been to make my collection Redwall themed. I think it would be really cool, without changing the models, to paint different woodland critters like raccoons, badgers, opossums, squirrels, beavers, and so on. Essentially my goal is to build my Skaven army around themes like nobility and heroism, and I hope that can come through with the right color choices. It’s very common for people to lean into the Skaven lore, making them filthy and horrific. I want to know if the opposite can be achieved with paint. Even if you don’t think it would fit the model, I’m curious, what would be your approach to such a consideration? I like subverting expectations, and in fact, I hope to flip the script entirely and make my stormcast army the villainous conquerors, and the Skaven the noble defenders of the woods. All of this will influence how I paint these models, but, since most guides and examples I’ve seen are painting Skaven and stormcast in the typical style, I’m going to need to experiment quite a bit to hopefully find what works. Thank you!

Thats such a cool idea! Firstly I'd go back to the original book covers, and carefully pick one as a source of inspiration for a colour palette that's *as far from normal skaven as possible*. A Cobalt or Marble armored Stormcast Eternal hero would be cool.

Question as i am new to warhammer and plan on buying the skaventide box: Should all the clan rats have the same colour scheme like in this video with red armor etc or should some change for visuals like give some a green armor, some a blue armor? Also the core rule book in the box is the new core rule book? So this book from the box alone is worth 50 euros or so?

There's a new core book AND a new book for spearhead (which looks cool!). It's a difficult decision, I would maybe vary just the robes or something, and of course you could do details (like his little bag) slightly different, too. If you do vary details I feel it's important to keep them the same value/tone (e.g. very bright/dull), while changing the colour :)

Loved the result on this rat. Far as next vid requests. Little bit of kit bashing please. I'll leave the paint job to the others in the comments 😁

Thanks dude, we just need to figure out how to make that video clickable... :D

Can you do one on coloured stormcast metallics, maybe one of each stormhost I paint cellestial vindicators and need to know how to get contrast in the metallic blue armour - Thanks Byron

Spearhead seems exciting if not a little dangerous. All of the AOS minis are beautiful and I can see falling into a trap where my brains like "It's not a full army, just the tip" and 6 months in the future I have a half dozen spearhead boxes.

😅😅😅. But if they're all painted how glorious could it be?!

@@ArtisOpus That's how we ended up with 23 Underworlds warbands! "It's just a handful of naked dwarfs, nto a full army, why shouldn't we paint them..."

I like to mix Griff hound orange with guilliman flesh to give a more oldhammer Skaven skin tone. Spearhead content: yes please! A Spearhead diary where you show how long it takes a normal person to build and paint a Spearhead would be useful.
