@KujoPainting5 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for that. I didn't really learn it from anyone in particular, I guess to quote Paul Atreides 'it seemed the proper way' :) . I've just been messing about with texturing techniques for a while and trying out different ways to approach using them to get various effects. So I guess this is just the culmination of a lot of trial and error. Cheers!
@dawidkowalewicz58455 жыл бұрын
Can you explain why aren't you using the smaller paintbrush for such details?
@KujoPainting5 жыл бұрын
Sure, it really comes down to the tip of the brush. If the brush is good with a sharp tip, there's not a huge difference between a 1 and a 00. Paint tends to dry faster on a smaller brush so using a 1 throughout lets me have workable paint on the brush for longer. I usually use a 1 for pretty much everything, I might go up to a 5 or a 6 for larger areas but it's very rare I'll go for smaller than a 1. Hope that helps.

I used to think "Oh yeah just be super talented and never make a mistake and you still won't be able to do what Kujo does." (Well I can do it but yours awesome and mine is hawt garbage.) Now I can actually see how you develop the process all the way to planning the method before even starting (like applying mid-tone and then shade or in this case shadow color as the base and work up.) Thank you for all you do for painters and taking the time to teach us. Greatly appreciated.

What are Scale 75 paints actually like to work with ? what would you use them for (any restrictions ?) and what additives if any would you add to them to pant infantry / a vehicle ? Just realised today they got their HQ in the suburbs of my city !
@minorharmonicscale5 жыл бұрын
I'm by no means in kujos level if painting, but I have used Vallejo, gw, p3 and now scale75. -Compared to the others, you need to add mix-balls in the bottles, since they need a really good shake with their gel medium -They need to be thinned down a bit more with water(but almost every brand need some water). -Very High pigment density even when thinned down. -they dry very Matt, can be strange at first :p Other than that they are just colours :)
@davedogge22805 жыл бұрын
@@minorharmonicscale thanks, I've got those 'illuminous Scale 75 FX' colour set but still have not used them I always put mixing balls into bottles and shake with hand and one of those ladies' varnish bottle shakers which are pretty good really.

Hey man, the Night Lords got a recent buff and I've been wanting to at least get a couple of them to model. I gotta ask, what parts or models did you use to make this guy? I want a build a similar looking HQ and finding longhair male heads is a bit of a pain. Also that sword and the jetpack wing combo looks sick.
@KujoPainting5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was already built when I got it, but I did make some alterations. The head was actually a scratch sculpt, my client made the face and hair from green stuff, then I altered it a bit to make the hairlonger and flow down onto the armour. I just green stuffed over the top and used a sculpting tool to cut in the strands. I think he got the wings from some Vampire model and the backpack is from forgeworld, sorry I'm not sure what model, I'll try and find out for you.

This is not my style of painting, but i love to watch it. but for blending things i prefer oil paints.
@KujoPainting5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have a bunch of oil paints but I've never tried to use them on a miniature, isn't the extended drying time going to be a big issue?
@stefan_HEX5 жыл бұрын
@@KujoPainting drying time can be a problem if the oil paint have to much linseed oil. But this can be reduced buy placing the oil on cardboard to suck it out from the paint. I use abteilung502 that is made for miniature painting. But still it will dry slowly, and that's why i use it. ;) I can blend my shades for a day or two and then I lock them in painting with a varnish after 24h and move on with acrylics on top if needed. Maybe check out ´Zatcaskagoon Miniatures´ here at youtube he uses oil in almost all videos painting warhammer 40k stuff. It is very different style of painting to say the least. But to me it´s great fun using oils. I find it faster then layering and easier than wet-blending acrylics. Biggest issue is that oil look very glossy while painting. And you have to wait a long time to see your results matte.
