Truly well done sir, my daughter has been wanting to build a keep and I found your series here and have been watching all of the videos in last few days, you’ve done a great job documenting this. Thanks for sharing and great job working on this build with your son, truly inspirational.

If you had to do it over again, would you have Raptor lined the interior prior to painting the body, or vice-versa? How easy was it to tape and paint up to the Berliner interior?
@ForceBuilt Жыл бұрын
Yes, I did like doing the bed liner before my final paint. Not really an issue either way. I lined the rail where the top mounts. Gave me a really good breaking point and made it easy to tape off when I painted. Thanks for watching!

@@ForceBuilt I'm trying to price out this job to see if it would be a viable job for me, but I'm having a really hard time sourcing the paint. No problem. I got the paint at Body shop supply in Tupelo, MS. There is also one in Corinth, MS. I bought 1 gal because I wanted some left over incase anything happened in the future.

Looks great! What exactly do I need to buy to do this for my tj? I have no equipment or anything. Is it even reasonable for me to do this with no experience? Thanks!
@ForceBuilt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Austin! Everyone has to start somewhere so I will not tell you you can't do it. It being your first auto paint job, it will be a BIG learning experience. I would recommend going by a local body shop and see them do bodywork to give you an Idea of how it is done. The finish work needs to be really good before spraying the paint or it will look terrible. If you can feel it with your hand, you can see it with paint on it. Concerning tools. I would recommend a few different lengths of flat blocks. I will come back here to this comment and leave links if you request me to. I would also recommend and electric orbital sander(D.A.). This will make your work go much faster. Let me know if you would like me to link some equipment. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching!
@austinosborn42382 жыл бұрын
@@ForceBuilt Thanks for the reply! Ive done a bit more research now and I think I am going to go with doing a 3M or vinyl wrap. Seems to be a bit less expensive, and much less time consuming.

why does no one seal the metal before putting body filler down? Body filler traps moisture I'm pretty damn sure. And this is a jeep, get rid of the rust but leave the dents ;) anyways nice work, it takes a lot of effort to get her done!
@ForceBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Actually this body filler treats the metal similar to an etching primer. Then I also put the sealer primer over that. I've been at this for around 35 years. There won't be any issues here. Thanks for the comment!

@ForceBuilt4 жыл бұрын
Labor was free of course. Sand paper, bondo, primer, paint , clear coat, tape and paper. Lots of different materials. I spent $600 or a little less. I didn't put the most expensive clear coat on it. It could cost much more depending where and what brand materials you use. Thanks!
@zamenreid88444 жыл бұрын
@@ForceBuilt Thank you for replying so fast. That is impressive to have that great of an outcome. $600 definitely beats 1,000s of dollars at any paint shop. I might try and do my own paint job...eventually.
