Man you did a great job with that and made it look pretty simple. The prep seems like it would be the hardest part of this process.

Thank you. Yes prep was 90% of the job.

I was always afraid to attempt my own paint job due to fear of upsetting my abusive household. This video gave me the courage I needed! Keep it up!

This is awesome, gives me motivation to do the same in my YJ. Figured if I can get it semi- decent looking inside I’ll brave the outside in a fun turquoise color!

Yes. I started with black inside and then got the hang of it to do a gun metal blue outside. It’s a great product for fraction of the cost

How did it do with heat and noise since you had some miles on it? Thanks
@franksgarage13Ай бұрын
It has held up great. Still looks the same since the day I sprayed it. It blocks the heat and reduces noise. Highly recommend

Greetings from Knoxville! That looks great! I just got a 98 TJ. Did you have to clean the gun between coats and how long between coats did you wait? I have a smaller compressor I think it might work. BTW love the BUCS flag. We are formally from st. Petersburg still big fans!
@franksgarage13 Жыл бұрын
I waited about 15min between coats, basically just enough time to change out bottles and let the compressor reset. The gun never clogged. If it seems like it wasn’t spraying evenly, I would turn up the psi and trigger at the floor and continue on the Jeep. I only cleaned at the end by spraying the lacquer thinner thru it. Thanks for watching!

What did you do to the roll bar? I saw that you only sprayed a few inches on the back and up to the half door… curious if you put the covers back on?
@franksgarage13 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I put the covers back on.

How long did you wait for fully drying?
@franksgarage1311 ай бұрын
I let it sit in the garage for a few days. It dries fast

Did the tape come off easy
@franksgarage13 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but make sure to take it off before the raptor liner spray begins to harden or else it will chip away with the tape. Remove right after you’re done spraying

Did you raptor liner your roll bars also?
@franksgarage1310 ай бұрын
Only the spots that are not covered by the padding

How long did you wait before removing masking tapes?
@franksgarage132 жыл бұрын
5-10 minutes. It’s still wet so it won’t crack or chip the liner and leaves nice straight clean lines.

Did you sand that floor down at all?
@franksgarage132 жыл бұрын
Yes. I sanded the entire surface inside and outside in another video. I used lighter grit sanding to scuff the surfaces.

Put 90 psi on compressor outflow.Turn air up or down on your gun. Spray from 2-3 feet away. Never spray anything over rust.It accelerates the rusting. Slow down and do the job right.

Laury, thank you for this comment. At first I thought this video was informative and thorough and made me feel confident in doing it myself. But thanks to your comment you have really opened my eyes to what it takes to do the job right. The world really needs more people like you on the internet. Thank you for doing your service on this video. Fucking moron.
