Yeah, the Unimog is finished. I'll start on mine when the bearings come in on Monday.

Another option for the black is to paint it on the out side and use the cover plastic as a mask. Hemi storm does that a lot when creating effects

Top stuff mate! Love that Corsa Gray, I just finished up a CC-01 FJ Cruiser in that very same colour. In my experience that colour isn't affected by a dark 'backing ' colour. I went straight over mine with PS Black inside and it turned out A-OK (so long as you have the Corsa Gray on in several good layers first). Agreed with the process for painting the wheel arches and bumper black: I did the same on my FJ. I went a step further on mine and went over the bumper and wheel arch black colour with a flat clear (on the outside) so that the black wasn't too glossy. Simply cut away the protective film from the bumper and arches first, and leave the film over the rest of the body so you don't flat clear the main paint job.

Wow, that Unimog looks fantastic, you've done an awesome job dude!! If I did one it would probably be a more military look, in olive drab or something similar. Really enjoyed watching this, look forward to the next one!!

Had to have a chuckle at the commentary over English weather. Granted it is late winter here in traditionally sunny Western Australia but we have had so much rain over the last few months I've almost put all my R/C Cars on eBay and instead considered a change to R/C Boats. Loved this build in particular. Having grown up in Germany I can remember this style of Unimog doing the rounds of our small town in winter with a snowplough attached. I am seriously eyeing up the CC-02 Unimog for my next purchase and might have to paint it up in the colour scheme of those council Unimogs (fluoro red/green). Not sure where I can get a plough from though.

Gotta love the Unimog, I have the body fitted to a CR01, have painted mine Corsa Gray too, but gave the outside a few coats of PS55 Flat clear to take the shine off. Keep it, it’ll look great as a shelf queen.

Really thinking about getting one of these kits. I love building Tamiya kits but my least favorite thing to do is cutting out PC bodies and parts. Really like that Tamiya includes a lighting kit and brushed/brushless capable ESC with the kit. I barely made it through this video though because of all the camera movements giving me a headache. Nice build. Probably won't be watching anymore videos from this channel.

Hi i have a question. Is it normal for this truck to wobble in reverse in high speed? There is no issue on going foward. Im on 23t pinion gear and normal speed gear ratio. I just built one, using hop up wheel bearing, carbon steel propeller shafts and also aftermarket shocks. When i was tuning it with my transmitter i noticed the wheel wobble only in reverse at high speed.

I do agree on the way of masking the arches instead of the flat inside cabin surfaces. But if you are masking large surfaces - use a plastic bag, kitchen plastic wrap or something and tape that close to were the masking line is. Covering the entire body in masking tape is pricey :P This method works best if you paint these small areas before cutting the wheel arches (if you have to mask across or close a wheel arch that is). Depending on where you're paint you might wanna do that anyway - like if your paint line is right across the wheel arch. But sealing certain section of the body of is easier with a straight line all along the bottom of the body. When I painted my Volvo 850 for example, I just put the entire body in a plastic bag, and sealed that under the hood. Only had to mask the bumper to paint that f*ing blue area on the front spoiler :P Then f*cked the white paint up anyway - but still ;) Here I cut the wheel arches before painting, and it was tricky to get the tape to seal properly across the bend - and most importantly it was hard to tape over the edge without the overspray film lifting.

Interesting, but I'd rather have an Axial/ Traxxas/ Element product for crawling; or an RC4WD for scale. When I think of Tamiya its buggies and plastic models that come to mind.
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
Yep the CC-02 is not a TRX4 or even close. That said it's better than I expected from Tamiya for a 4X4.
