It would be my recommendation and suggestion that you never paint window tracks. Anywhere where there's movement those extra Mils of paint is going to cause the window to get stuck. It's not just about painting the rope it's the actual track itself is getting thicker by painting it. Also once you slide the window up into that wet paint in the track is going to harden and seal sticking to the window. So it's kind of a two-step issue. Even if you move the window as it dries the extra Mils of paint is adding thickness which is going to tighten the window in place. If a client wants the track painted it's better to just explain to them that it will cause the window to stick. And the most you can do is clean it to make it look nice. And when you're explaining this to the client just let them know that if they want a different color the track is going to remain the existing color and not the new color. So that way they can plan ahead if they want to change the color.

That is the longest way in existence for a professional to explain "I don't want to do things for you" With the right effort and cost involved you could sand the paint off and repaint it instead, that should always be presented as an option.

I have to paint the frames for 12 Andersen casement windows. Some have dozens of small holes because prior owner stapled plastic screens right to the frames. Some have a recent poor-quality paint job as well. I saw your recommendation for a brush. Can I use any kind of electric sander (palm, orbital, oscillating tool etc.) to try to smooth out all those perforations? What kind of filler could I use? Do I need to prime over old paint? And what kind of paint would be best? Thank you.

thank you for this. any suggestions for how to fill/level paint chips on the sash box? it's one of those jobs that few people will come out for so I'm trying to figure out how to diy.

Using a putty knife, scoop out some Ready Patch and smooth it over the surface of the crater left by the chipped paint. Work it in several directions to fill any nooks and crannies. Also, make sure to overfill the area a little so that when you’re ready to sand, you can sand it down to a completely level surface. Once the patch is completely dry, then sand it smooth using 120-180 grit sandpaper until everything is smooth and level. Touch up the patch with a little bit of oil or acrylic primer, and then you’re ready to re-paint the surface. One coat of primer and one coat of paint later and I’d challenge you even know there was a repair done at all And this time, the finished product will blend in perfectly with the surrounding trim Hope this helps .

You should of cleaned the glass first with razer used no more gaps to make straight lines, and applied dulux 1 step OIL BASE undercoaat sealer primer, then put dulux full gloss super enamel oil.

Hi Zeljko, thanks for watching...Cleaning the windows including scraping all the paint from the windows was the job of the cleaners that came after me to clean the windows... Same for the glazing part, performed by glazers using windows silicone and not No More Gaps and I highly advise you not to use No More Gaps between glass and timber! Undercoat was already applied, including all preparation, I just wanted to quickly demonstrate how to paint a top coat on sash window without showing the whole process which would have ended up to be a very very long video...But yeah thanks for the input.

@@samcopaintinganddecorating is it because bottom sashes are impossible to find at a salvage yard? In my area it’s impossible to find good ones. Some companies will make them for about $400
