Value does all the work and color gets all the credit. I am working a stream with grass, trees and a red tent and distant landscape shadows together, on a black canvas. Super challenging. It's coming to life though. I am using acrylics. Of course it appears like dusk, which is cool, not day time. Lessons lessons

Question: How should I properly clean my pallette?
@tanyamartin11834 жыл бұрын
I use a glass palette (i just took the glass out of a picture frame) and i use a scraper with a razor blade to scrape off the paint... I'm not sure what kind of palette you have, but this is what I've found works best for me
@mariannedickson38404 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of trying that. I use a wood pallette and have hard chunks of useless dried paint that I just keep adding to. There's gotta be a better way!

So I have a question that I’m hoping you can help with :) I have ultramarine blue, burnt umber, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, and titanium white. The reds, blues, and yellows I can mix with those colors are not as bright as I would like. I can get them to be very light but not bright. Do you have any specific shades of red, blue, and yellow that are bright enough to be able to make bright (almost neon) colors for things like flowers and birds? I don’t need these colors often but when I do, I want to be able to make them from a “basic bright palette” rather than going to buy a specific tube of paint every time.

This is wonderful. I’m a new subscriber. So should your reference be the same size as your final picture more or less for a portrait? I tried to do one using a picture from my phone on to a 7x11 - not so great. Thank you so much for your work!

I have a question if anyone can answer. I bought some art supplies off the internet because that’s what we have to do nowadays, and when i got my brushes the packaging says not to use mineral spirits or turpentine to care for the brushes and to use a odorless brush cleaner.. and i bought odorless mineral spirits. I tried to google this stuff and I can’t find anything that says like what will happen if i use mineral spirits on the brushes and what other odorless brush cleaner i could use instead, can anyone help? Does it really matter if i use the odorless mineral spirits?

I get it , it's called paint "talk" and not paint 'show'. I appreciate this channel to an extent. I know you probably do more of this on Patreon...but the amount of artists always saying 'follow' me on Patreon'. 3 - 4 concepts of painting in one 10 minute VLOG without actually seeing one full concept (examples...paint with left hand, paint for half an hour). I don't know what I'm trying to say. There's nothing wrong with going slower, one concept per VLOG. Keep it simple
@ChrystalFaith4 жыл бұрын
I prefer his quick talk and skipping across the water. I have been an artist since I was 4 and a pro since 13 when the professor had us do a poster for a real business where I got paid via the barter system (free pizza and drinks). But I have been mostly not being the artist I really am. So keep the firehose going, Paint Couch! As for the others, take notes, think about it on your own, look up these concepts from other artists going in-depth, watch his other vids that go into those topics... AND, center on one and just ASK for (him to do) it!
