The circle is just an indicator of the where the mouse is, I believe. If you're asking in general though, it can be done by only applying a slight pressure, which will only make a percentage of the full brush size you've set (which can be adjusted in min and max bars in the brush properties :3)

So you use the marker tool for all your coloring purposes, and use lighter shades over darker shades, to get a blended in look? Ah. Instead of using whites for highlights. Ah. Your videos are both inspiring and educational. Thank you for posting them.
