lol, this is my all-time favorite painting. I took hours to paint anything. so in my college painting competition which gave us 90 mins, I was dumbfounded.then I watched this video and made a painting inspired by it with tube watercolors in 50 mins n I defeated a 5-time champion. it is to date my best work in such a short time with watercolors. I did not have a palette knife and my town did not have any shops that sold it. so I cut a similar shape out of a plastic box. thank u kevin for helping me improve my art.
@reemlsilkworm8 жыл бұрын
So loyal to the foundations of Bob's work, yet the personal flair and individuality is still very much in tact, creating in my opinion, a modernised new angle on this type of magical landscape. It's fantastic to see someone embrace this wonderful method with such integrity, and to excel at it to such a high degree. You, Mr KevinOilPainting sir, are an amazingly talented artist, and bring something very special and unique to this classic (w' on w'), method. Big gold star for you.

First, you should start with a white basecoat. This will make it much easies to blend the colors. I use Midnight Black, it is really a dark purple-grey color. Hope this helps.

Does the canvass have to be wet before beginning? I'm confused with the idea of "wet on wet". I keep hearing it, but I've never seen it done.
@stevemack6010 жыл бұрын
yes, canvas usually covered in liquid white or liquid black in heavy forest areas. watch the bob ross videos, he explains what he has done to the canvas before starting. Kevin's paintings are more detailed than bob's though. The wet on wet technique is excellent.
@joshjhutton10 жыл бұрын
Steve Mackins Thanks. I've seen it since I made the comment last month and have even done it a few times. Still need to figure out if I'm putting on too much or if I'm having other problems. I can't seem to get my Titanium White to stick to the canvas after putting in the blue sky. I think I'm putting on too much blue, but I can't tell. And its not like I can afford to keep trying over and over again. Its not like a simple piece of paper, canvases cost money.
@stevemack6010 жыл бұрын
joshjhutton you are probably using too much blue. thinned paint will always stick to thicker paint. use very little liquid white too, just a thin even coat is what you want.
@joshjhutton10 жыл бұрын
Steve Mackins Thanks, I'll try that.
@tscp_celtic51306 жыл бұрын
Yes, the technique is called alla prima. You start with a thin coat of liquid white or liquid clear then use varying colors of oil paints to paint the subject.
