Good stuff mate.. I had a custom paint shop years ago in another life, but only painted bikes..Big panels like that were never on the menu.. good to see how you tackled it.. took me back to those heady days.. i could even smell the filler & dust..

I seen where my friend Pete used a slap hamer that i have in my door skin kit from harbor fright lol and he would slap and pull and it didn't even need filler i use to always just tap in down like you do but i am going to tru the slap hamer way on next high spot love your video's and your cars! Thank you for these videos they are awesome brother.

First off, thanks for this series if videos. There is a lot of contradicting information on the Internet. What is the reasoning for putting body filler onto bare metal instead of epoxy then body filler? I’m not sure which is better.

Great question. If you ask an old timer they will say that epoxy sealer was invented by the paint companies so they could sell you one more product 🤣 There is a video on KZbin where a guy did a pull test with body filler direct to metal and then with metal covered with epoxy sealer. The adhesion was better with the filler direct to metal every time he tested it. I’m certainly no pro, so all I can go off of is my experience. I’ve never had a good quality filler fail when applied direct to metal. I’m not sure if it’s better or not, just know what I’ve done in the past. I’m sure that’s not the answer you hoped for but I want to be transparent with you. Thanks for watching!

I was thinking I’d just do that because the top was going to be blacked out. But I may not. I’m thinking if going with a boss stripe kit. Still undecided.
