How to make a battery box! Sheet metal projects in the home shop

In this video I make a sheetmetal battery box for a smaller AGM battery that I am going to use in the Falcon. Follow along and Ill show you how I did it and how you can as well! You dont need all the fancy tools to get this done. This is one you can bang out with hand tools!

Great little custom job mate, i reckon you'd pay $40 Aus for a dinky-chocolate one from Chy-na... which is about $26.70 in your money.. So for a custom monogrammed one i'd say $49 USD for a bare steel one & $20 more for the powder coated model. I really wanted to see you make the top with edges & breaks so that is wraps the top of the battery top & bottom, rather than just a flat flap piece of tin, which obviously would be more work, but you could add dimples in the top for strength & make it more interesting & sell that one as a premium model..& chrome it..!! $150 bucks I'd buy one from you but I'm putting my battery in the back of the wagon & dropping in the floor somehow.. in 2055 probably. I liked how you left in the process of tweaking the design and also showed that its easy to not notice design issues like the dimple die clearance after pressing in the first one in the earlier version!! Although you can swing the battery and top into the slot hinge, but you won’t be able to do that once the bottom of the tray is bolted into the engine compartment up against the inner fender. Maybe I don’t understand? 🤔

I’ll make a video of it in the falcon. The box is roughly half the size of a standard big battery so when the tray is bolted down, you should have enough room to rotate it in to place. Although you can put the box where you want/need to, to make it work.
