Your tanks are absolutely hands down the best I've seen on the Internet! I have all my units painted and it's funny how us 30-40 year Olds get more involved in the game when detail painted! Cheers from Texas and keep up the great work D'troy

Nell Gainey ...Nell thanks for the shout out and your support. I have always said that playing with painted game pieces enhances the over all gaming experience. It makes the game more interesting and introduces a sense of perspective to the game. I would love to see your painted game pieces. I always like to see painted game pieces that others have painted.

I am use to painting 1/72 scale; however, with practice... it gets easier as you go. I will upload eventually. Also I am currently re-working on air force units with transparent plastic sticks. The bombers and fighters at a different mm height, but the tactical bombers' plastic sticks are sliced at an angle to give a diving motion look. All done with rare earth magnets. I don't know about you, but I really focus on infantry detail. For example, Germany has the black SS sentry units with armband,white gloves and helmet runes 4 count, SS grey coats 5 count, Western wehrmacht grey w/ slight darker pants 15 count and eastern wehrmacht w/ greenish bluish grey 15 count. All helmets are the same except for the traditional SS sentries and SS grey coats. I could go on and on but each country has a specially painted unit and it just gets you more involved with whatever country your playing.

Nell Gainey .....I see that you are very much into detailing your game pieces. I think it adds and enhances the gaming experience when playing with detailed minis as you have. I am sure you can go on since each country does have its own special attributes and specialized units. It seems to me that you have gone even further than me. When you are good and ready to show case your collection let me know. Would love to see what you have done.

I almost forgot 2 ask you, are the king tigers from ghq playable with oobs and what's your take on them?
@axisallies-thegarrison25337 жыл бұрын
Nell Gainey ....yes they are in scale with OOB, HBG and FMG....the only problem is that they tend to be not only expensive but as I said before they tend to be a little fragile. If you paint them you may experience issues with storage. I dont recommend that you simply throw them all in one compartment in a storage bin. If you do, they will easily scratch and the gun barrels easily twist and bend. Something for you to think about ...

Hi Warren....thanks for your support and I am excited for you. Axis and Allies is a labor of love that requires commitment and dedication. My suggestion to you is to take it one step at a time. My miniatures are varied and come from several manufacturers that include HBG ,General Headquarters, Field Marshal Games, Shapeways and the game pieces that come included in the game. All my game pieces are approximately 285th scale. Some Game pieces tend to be slightly larger than others but over all they are the same size and blend well with each other. If you want to paint your minis I can be of assistance.....as I said before, take it one step at a time and you will slowly paint your collection. Start first by buying your brushes and water based paints at your local Michael's or any arts and Crafts store. You can use the cheap dollar paints that work amazingly well. Then buy fine tipped brushes ranging from 3 to 0 scale. Also don't forget to buy a can of clear flat coating to seal in and protect your painted game pieces. Before you start I suggest that you do some research and figure out what color schemes you will like to use. Some people like their miniatures to be historically accurate when ever possible. Once you have figured out what color scheme and what color paints you will use then you may start painting. The first step is to use a #3 brush to apply a pimer or base (black,white or grey) paint on your mini. Once you have based your miniature you can start applying paint to the face and extremities by using either a scale 1 or 0 brush. Then I apply paint to any other accesories like guns, boots and back packs. Once having done so I apply paint to the uniforms. Let the miniatures dry and afterwards apply your clear coating by spraying your miniatures with a flat clear coating. Buy your self a set of cheap prescription glasses that cost about 5 dollars at your local wallmart or pharmacy that will help you with painting the fine details. You can also use a magnifying glass if you have one. Also make sure to thin out your paints by applying water prior to using them. The paint should run smoothly from your brush onto the miniature itself and finally make sure that you have plenty of lighting in your work area. Don't be shy with your paints....you can experiment by blending them. Doing so can be very rewarding and will allow you to develop your very own colors and color schemes for your game pieces. The most important thing to remember is to not forget to have fun as you paint away. ....if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Inspired... most of my painted miniatures came included with the Axis and Allies board game that I later painted in order to enhance my gaming experience. A good number of them I bought from GHQ (General Headquarters) Shapeways and Field Marsha Games. I own most of the Axis and Allies franchise games as a result I have a large number of unpainted game pieces.....

Carlos.....you can buy these game pieces from Historical Boardgaming, General Headquarters, Field Marshal Games and you can also have them lazer printed by a company called Shapeways........also the board game Axis and Allies has an extensive collection of game pieces that come included with the game. If you have any further questions feel free to ask....

Joe, my minis are 285 th scale miniatures. My miniatures are mostly from General Head Quarters, Historical War gaming and FMG. I prime my minis followed by paint and then finalized with a clear coating to seal and protect the minis from flaking and game use.

Yes, I did all the painting on my sculpts. I have been painting for about 10 years now....the more paint the better I get...lol. I suggest you check out Historical Board Gaming for game pieces. They are very affordable and decent quality..

Hey guys, I want to start painting my figures also like you do. But I got one question. How did you bring on this little pieces like Flags, the german beam cross or thinks like that? I Was think about to print it with paper and glue it on the figures or did you got a better Idea?
@axisallies-thegarrison25334 жыл бұрын
Dennis my suggestion is that you may want to check out Historical Board Gaming ,Custom C ombat Miniatures or General Headquarters, these three companies provide a wide array of custom decals that you can use for your sculpts. Let me know how it works with your painting and sorry for the late response..

How do these new pieces affect gameplay? Do you have the spgs and tank destroyers under a new category or just under tanks?

Amazing work. I just bought my first A&A board game (1942 Second Ed), and I really want to buy a whole new set of pieces so I can have really good looking, painted pieces to play with. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance. Should I buy the entire set from HBG? Should I use decals? Are they the same size? Sorry for so many questions, you're work is just amazing and it's exactly what I want to do!

One question, is there also a King tiger miniature?
@axisallies-thegarrison25337 жыл бұрын
Erik .....you can buy the King Tiger from GHQ ( General Headquarters). They make a highly detailed game piece out of metal. The only problem is that they tend to be fragile and the gun barrel easily bends. Something that you have to consider for gaming purposes. For some reason Historical Board Gaiming and Field Marshal Games have never produced the King Tiger. You may want to check out Shape ways, maybe they have it.

In video 29 which I have not uploaded yet you will be able to see my repainted german navy. I will be posting the video later today or tomorrow.
