I watch some of the moms who flip furniture. I appreciate the fact you really restore where they paint everything. One day gray paint will be out of style. Wood is classic and will be “in” forever.

I strongly agree! I saw one chick just peel of some burl and THROW IT AWAY! She threw it away! It was not really damaged. Both door fronts were intact and all she had to do was reglue where it was coming up. She slapped some mud colored paint on it with no poly and called it a day.

Wonderful restoration on these drawers 😍👏🤩 Honestly, it’s so easy for someone to jump on their high horse and make a judgement about sponsorships but it’s not them having to pay the bills and keep the lights on 🙄 A lot of people aren’t able to drop hundreds of dollars on tools, or don’t want to as it’s not their profession, and Temu has filled that gap in the market.

🤩 Fabulous! I was looking forward to see you replace veneer. Great job. I love the small knobs you used in the first drawer; I wish you'd used them in all four. I find it matches the theme of the feet and that brass bar. Of all the furniture repair/renovation/restoration channels I follow, yours is probably my favorite for your attention to detail, meticulous approach and talent for aesthetics 🥰 I suppose a piece like this that revealed it had been previously (badly - the black paint could've been a dead giveaway) renovated, it's more practical to just work as quickly as possible and get it over with, but perhaps if you find another similar project (MCM with accents like that brass bar), I was wondering if you'd consider when replacing the veneer, creating a design of your own, if the piece deserves the attention. Maybe look at some art deco or art nouveau veneer designs you can replicate? Try Mondrian art style or Japanese marquetry inspired designs. The way you work could reveal your artistic side ❤

A nice find. I'm glad to see you showing all the TEMU tools. I need some clamps and those small clamps you used to clamp the frame to the workbench look just like what I could use. That little sander seemed to work really well. I've watched a lot of flippers put on veneer, but I must say you made this look so easy. I like the outcome. The only thing I would change is the hardware on the top drawer. I think those handles are too small. I would like to see something larger that would harmonize with the ones on the other drawers.

Did you use the 80 grit initially to get the paint off? And how many sanding pads did you have to go through before you got all the black paint off?
@FurnitureFlippa7 ай бұрын
I used 120 grit initially, then finished with 240 grit. I used 1 piece of sand paper per side! And 1 piece for all the drawers. The sand paper didn’t gum up at all which was great. 👍

I thought the crystal knobs were snazzy with the black lacquer paint --kind of an art deco look perhaps. I think you are right that the paint was just slapped on carelessly. If it was done more professionally, it would have looked great. I have something similar, but with the drawers bare wood (just a clear coat) and the top and sides black lacquer just like yours. I bought it from a flipper. I love it. I disapprove of electric screwdrivers. Its just plain lazy, but I guess I will forgive you if it has a torque and won't strip out the screw heads. MAN that dark stain just brought that piece to life. WOW! It hid the leftover paint in the grain beautifully. I thought you were doing fine with the drawers. It was a very expensive choice to do the new veneer. I am not sure you will recap your cost. I was a bit surprised you chose to stain the drawer fronts at all after putting on new, very expensive walnut veneer. It would have been a great contrast left natural or at least just the top drawer. I feel the walnut veneer is a bit wasted with it stained so dark. If I ever do veneer, I will follow your example and fill in any groves. It would not have occurred to me that would be necessary, but I can see how it could become damaged if someone hit it just in the right spot and there was nothing behind there. As usual, you made a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Great job.

I love the nice warm color you got from the stains and polyurethane. The “new” pulls look MUCH better with the gold wax. Given how cheaply you purchased it, this should bring you a nice profit if you’re going to sell it. It’s a damned shame that the veneer on the drawers was so badly damaged. I love the carved grooves in the top and bottom drawers, but I also understand why you had to cover these disasters with new veneer.
@FurnitureFlippa7 ай бұрын
Yes, too bad the veneer wasn't salvageable, but the new stuff should look good for quite some time! Thanks for watching!

How come sometimes you use stripper on paint and other times scrape and other times sand? Turned out amazing btw 🎉
@FurnitureFlippa4 ай бұрын
Good question. A few possibilities. Sometimes I will scrape if the paint comes off easy, saves me from having to spend more money on stripper. Sometimes paint stripper doesn't work, so scraping or sanding is the only option. Sometimes sanding removes it super fast, but you need to be careful not to damage veneer. Sometimes I will just pick up my scraper and start working lol Pieces with detailed edges and grooves, its probably better to strip as it will be faster. Really comes down to if I have stripper, and if the stripper is going to work well. In the end, whatever works will get me there in a day or 2 days of work. But thanks so much, appreciate the kind comment :)

Looks great. That stripper does work really well, but you need to apply it liberally (ie pour it on and spread it out with a spatula).
@mccommas24 ай бұрын
Won't it drip all over the place and make a mess of the inside of the drawers and floor?
@theresaburg58814 ай бұрын
@@mccommas2 It shouldn't drip inside the drawers-keep them closed while stripping the top. A bit may get on the floor, but put a tarp under the piece. The stripper is thicker, so more like putting honey on it vs water (do not eat the stripper-just in case someone thought I was suggesting it!!).

Very nice! I do like to Have some questions and to have some opinions, so don’t be mad at me. I wonder, on the drawers, why you chose to put the veneer in the horizontal direction instead of the vertical direction that it had from the beginning? I also like the carved lines ontge the drawers front. Do you think it would be possible to, not fill the lines with Puddy , and on the new veneered drawer’s fronts, feel with your finger, mark the middle and cut in the middle and fold the into the line. If it’s doable you then coul take-a marker with darker color. I know it would take much more time and effort, but do you think one could do it like this? I often think about alternatives ways to do things, so don’t take it personal. I just want to learn Thank you 😊
@FurnitureFlippa7 ай бұрын
I will never be mad at someone for asking me questions :) 1. I chose to put veneer horizontally because it wasn't wide enough to go vertically. The veneer sheet was only 24 inches wide, the drawer was like 30 something inches. 2. I liked the carved spots too. I believe they are a technique called scoring or grooving. Do i think what you said is possible? Hard to say.. I think the best way to achieve this with new veneer is to do what I did for the veneer and use the proper tools like a router, dremel, or a proper hand tool to make the grooves. I appreciate your questions and your interest in the project. It shows your interest in the video, and I truly appreciate it! Thanks for watching :)
