My heart dropped when I saw a stink bug (hate those things) jump off a ceiling light and dive bomb my car. Paint was wet and I felt like I was watching it in slow-mo. LUCKILY, the trajectory was low and bounced off the plastic sheet in the drivers side door. Then it hit the floor and the last thing it saw was the bottom of my shoe. Wow. Lucky!!

Lol didn’t cross my mind that could happen. I’m friends with both neighbors, if there is a next time I’ll check in with them beforehand. 😄

Great job and great color! Just finished cutting and buffing my DIY garage paint job on my 73' 240 so I can appreciate the incredible amount of work that goes into doing this yourself. Keep up the great content!

Great job. So much work... Most people have no clue what goes into building a car.

Thank you, and I agree. Just as long as they admit they have no clue, everything is fine. But when they act like they know it all, that can cause problems hah. 🤣 -- stay humble

The preparation was very spot on. The thing with red paint is you have to spray with a white primer or sealer so it covers easier. Looks Great tho!!

Awesome job mate! I'd be real happy if I painted my car and it came out with that result. And credit to you for having a go yourself, you have more balls than me, because paint was the one thing I didn't want to have a go at myself. Funny, I feel our build journeys have been pretty similar, doing absolutely everything ourselves starting with the rust repairs, both doing it out of the garage at our parents place, then buying our own homes, having to move everything, decking out our new garages, pretty funny that. But when it comes to paint, because I sent my zed to a paint shop, it was stuck there for 2 and a half years, and my built ground to a halt. Now yours is finished and driving and i'm playing catch up. Oh... and I did have a kid... ha! I think get her out in the sun on a sunny day and you will really be able to show off any defects in the paint, It looks good from my house (lol) but the fluro lights and reflections really make it hard to see how good or bad the condition is. Like others have said, use a razor blade to de nib all the trash and clear runs, or you can buy a specific de-nib tungsten block, but they are about 40 bucks or so. Cant wait to see the video of you cutting and polishing her. Rudi.

Girl friend has been a huge help thru-out the entire build .I was very happy to see her in a paint suit too as it was " fumee" Great job even pros get dust dirt bugs in paint under perfect spray booth conditions. All you have to do is paint After you can fix anything " this IS where the Pro has the experience! So great job I was surprised you went from black to RED! Mine is in black primer it will be white ..." I should talk" Great job .The both of you!

Dexter would be proud! Good job man, a little bit of aftercare and it will be mint! For runs in clear, look at using the razor blade method to flatten them out. Practice first, but a great way to flatten runs without sanding away surrounding areas.
@StewartMotoring
@StewartMotoring 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did see that method, I’ll probably do that to start on that run. Maybe put some tape down along the sides of the run just for extra care.
@RetiredUnderachiever

Absolutely! Little tape over the ends of the razor blade will prevent digging in unwanted clear when shaving that run in the clear out. Overall love the build and your shop. One tip I learned when help in a collision shop is set your panels on stands the way they sit on the car. You executed that perfect with the fenders. Might have tried with the doors to hang them from the ceiling. Will continue to follow. Love those cars 💪🏼

Doesn’t have a brand name, I bought it from a fella on a Datsun Facebook page who seems to make them to sell. I’m sure you could post a question on where to get it and someone would know the name. It’s been years since I bought it. It was maybe $250-350 I think.

Oh, I should have waited to the end. Torch red looks a lot like Nissan 110 in the vid. That's what mine is but kind of ratty, good from around 50 ft!

Is a good job... you are not a professiona... don't be hard on yourselft... even professionals make mistakes trust me it comes with practice... I can say the job looks good... you learn from this practice so next time maybe next car should be a lot better... it's a good job...
