@@PaintedDesertRanch Just like working with other animals they can sense your state of mind, how tense your body is, even working with dogs a person's energy can relay via the leash and cause the dog to be reactive. I think the same with horses, you were calm and that can be also felt as confidence and puts the animal at ease. You're an accomplished horse woman you've got that going for you.

My oldest son found a stray dog on his doorstep years ago and he called him dog for the longest time. I finally told him he had to give him a name because that dog loved him and was really smart. He finally said ok I named him Deeohgee. (DOG) All my boys are stinkers. lol He called him Deeohgee from then on.
