Painters on Painting: Ed Clark

On the occasion of the exhibition, ‘Ed Clark. Without a Doubt,’ we hosted a conversation between contemporary painters.
Director of Education, Debbie Hillyerd, welcomed Henry Ward and selected guests from UK universities to an informal discussion on painting in response to some of the themes and issues raised by the work of Ed Clark. The outcome was a current and dynamic conversation led by the attitudes and thoughts of contemporary painters and students from universities across the UK.

Great idea to have painters comment on other painters work. I believe that the artist used a guide rail of some sorts to be able to have these long straight horizontal lines that are almost unobstructed. If there was no guard rail, it wouldn't be so level.
