2 tips on how to prevent dust in paint. Dry the horse with a hair dryer. The surface dries within seconds and dust has no chance. And look at the horse very carefully when priming with acrylic, so you can see directly where dust settles, which can be removed very easily from the not yet dry paint with a brush

@Bubble Tea you can first blow some seconds without horse and let the dust get out of the dryer I think

Another tip! Don't use nail varnish for glossing. It yellows after some time and just isn't good to use. I've seen recommended something like Liquitex medium gloss varnish or Windsor and Newton. Also to avoid graininess, it's better to add a few layers of each colour before you move on to the next shade.

Your pastel technique works so good, I paint horses too and I was always very hesitant to use pastels.ThenI painted a pinto horse and I tried you technique and the pastel ended up beautiful.They were a little bit grainy in some areas but since I had a very dark coat colour It was barley unotisable.
