Gouache might be ok without a gesso (but oils you definetly need it 😅 and the paper is so porous I'd assume watercolour would spread and seep everywhere? Unsure, I haven't tried it!)

@@LizGridleyArtist I've tried similar paper in the past with watercolors and it didn't really work out too well directly on top. I'll definitely put down some medium first. Gouache also soaks into paper like crazy but I can see acrylic gouache working without any prep 😁

And I own so many clear gesso's this is my fave as it dries so Matte and smooth but not too smooth? A comparison video is on the future video list if not for how difficult it is to film how different gesso *feels*

@@LizGridleyArtist which brand did you use? I didn't take note. I enjoy the liquitex one and I'm amazed at what mediums work so well in it. You're lucky to have a friend like her ❤️

I used the Art Spectrum Clear Gesso - Less glossy than the liquitex which I sometimes find a bit slidey if I use it on something smooth then want to use oils. Liquitex I love on more porous surfaces though! Oh I'm incredibly lucky, I will not take that for granted at all

I love all the beautifully handmade paper in the sketchbook(especially the white as the flecks of color remond me of funfetti cake) The cover is absolutely beautifully painted as well. Oil is a medium i never got the hang of(used to flipping the brush over with acrylic 😅) I enjoyed the process of your book binding technique as well as these are things i already have myself to make and put together. This entire collab is an inspiration.

Especially when I've found that it's often mums capturing photos of precious memories which means outside of selfies there's often not that many candid moments captured between me and my Littles. So that kind of capture is particularly valuable and touching ❤️

Yep (Kat also sprays them with UV protect varnish) and framing behind UV protection glass, will hang in the studio outside direct sunshine 👍👍 *all the protection*
