I spent so much time trying to save this antique set but after more than 25 years in a wet basement and several floods it could not be done. So i am going to paint it but its for me so I am going to throw everything at it.

Words Fail. I love when you use those peacocks and blend in the edges. You make it look easy and I think it shows your artistry. Girly is too tame a word for the end result. It is magnificent. I found myself holding my breath when you were taking the moldings off of the mirror. You could give lessons! Well, I guess you sorta are by sharing all of this with us. Thanks for taking us along on this journey.

When I was watching it back I was holding my breath too, that piece at the top was stuck so solid. It did cross my mind to make this whole project a series of lessons I went into so much detail on every step of this piece. It could have easy been a 3 hours video.

Your right I had a great time doing these pieces. The pieces belonged to a friend on the families mother. So I've always had a bit of a connection to them. They have been mine for quite a few years so its been on the back of my mind what I would do to them. It was so much fun and I am really happy with the result.

This was beautiful before and just *stunning* after! With your red hair and the beautiful shimmering greens and blues, it gives me strong mermaid/under the sea vibes, even with those beautiful peacocks. I'm a big fan of the theory that "you don't choose the glitter life, the glitter life chooses you" but I didn't think about foiling furniture! This is lovely, beautiful, ethereal and full of all of the best kinds of shimmer! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much - Just thinking about your comment Sea Horse decoupage might have worked really good on this one. Might be something to try some day. I've done foiling a few times on furniture it can work really well - I want to do a piece with a lot of it soon too. Love the "Glitter life chooses you"

hi….couldn’t wait to see what you did with these pieces and you did not disappoint! I think the first video I ever watched on your channel was the peacock themed desk ( I have forgotten the name of the musical instrument it started out with) i was absolutely mesmerized and had not seen anything like it….you may or may not remember my maiden name is Peacock and I love your play on that theme. I wish you would have shown a little more of how they looked to start because its a miracle the way they look now and I wish you had some glamour shots at the end ….I actually went back and watched Part 1 again so I could fully appreciate your hard work…..my goodness they are both outstandingly GORGEOUS….I’m so happy for you that you get to look at them and use all the time….I really enjoy channel and I learn from watching and by your answering my questions….and I have one today….I purchased an old large veneered bow front dresser on facebook marketplace…..a lot of the veneer is completely loose (big pieces) from front on drawer….if any is missing it’s small pieces….I have watched lots of videos on how to attached veneer but nothing on bow fronts….I figured for the $25 I paid for it I could just take veneer off paint it and glam it up. Any thoughts or tips you can share with me….I would really appreciate it ….as I always appreciate your videos …thank you for sharing😊kim

First off I am really glad you enjoyed the piece I did remember thats your maiden name too. I love Peacocks and thats a nice connection. There will be more videos on this piece going to do something else for the next couple of videos but we will come back to it. These pieces had a number of unique challenges and how I overcame them could be really useful information to alot of people. So you will get to see plenty more of the before and during piece. With your bow front there are a few things you could do If you wanted to do more of a restore. The harder part about putting old or new veneer back on would be the clamping. It can be a bit of a challenge to clamp over a curved surface and maintain an even pressure. I have found success in the past using a tie down or ratchet strap. They also make a bendable plywood which could be used in conjunction with regular clamps. Some places call that wacky wood. Oh that desk was a spinet desk that used to be a harpsichord

As a general opinion I am not a huge fan of painted furniture. But when its done as tastefully and beautiful as this I can't help but just stand in awe. Its like a piece of art in a gallery. I love how you have captured every little original feature and incorporated it into the underwater theme. I love it! I'm not sure if you intended to go for an underwater theme but the furniture itself has just led my thoughts this way. Thank you for sharing your journey of this process. Its such a joy to see how you respected the maker and highlighted his skill, it did my soul good. Thank you I am truly blessed today.

Thank you so much for your comment it really made my day. Thank you for following along with something thats not necessary your thing. I love to restore furniture when I can but I love to paint it too. The joy of painting a piece to me is to complement the piece by pulling as much inspiration from the design and history of the piece. This piece was flooded many times so in a way thats why the underwater theme. I just love this piece and I get to start my day sitting at it and that makes me happy.
