I really like how you paint with so much freedom and the colors you used for this piece are so strong. I’m going to give it a try, thank you for sharing your talent with so many of us 👏🏻

I love how the tree really popped out when you applied that last layer of Payne's Grey around it. I initially hadn't thought it necessary, but I could sure see the difference. Lots of drama in the painting. Thank you.

Thank you Susan! I find that extra contrast brings so much to a scene and really makes it come alive. Painting darker skies like this one is a great example of the power of contrast.

I have a painting date with my teenage niece next week. I believe that she uses watercolor in the same way she does her colored pencils. I can't wait to show her the magic of plopping paint onto wet paper and watching what unfolds.

Oh how wonderful you are having painting dates with your niece! What a beautiful way to connect. She is in for a treat for sure - the way watercolours dance and go wild on the wet paper is pure magic. When I started painting this way it felt life-changing. Have fun, and happy painting!

Thank you! I really appreciate how you explain everything so well. I find it disheartening when videos are titled 'tutorial', 'how to paint ...', 'beginner friendly' etc, only to discover they're a demo only. Not a word about the how or why.

I am so happy you find my videos easy to follow. I never call my videos tutorials unless I explain everything in great detail, for that same reason - it is so disappointing to click on something that promises a lot, and not get anything from it. Thank you for watching, and happy painting!

I feel so blessed to have found you and your art. You are a true inspiration and you make me try so many new things. I used to think that watercolour wasn't for me, that I wasn't good enough and had no talent. But with your videos I've found my own way to the watercolour magic. I was so scared about the lack of control when I painted, but you've taught me to let go and enjoy the process. Thank you soooooo much for teaching me new things about myself, and for making my life so much better. I haven't felt that I've had some kind of purpose until I found your videos and was inspired to try to paint again. Now when the watercolours dance on the paper I feel no anxiety or sadness, I forget about everything and almost "live" inside the painting. And it's all because of you. So thank you soooo much ❤❤❤❤❤

Your beautiful comment makes me so happy, I am afraid I will not be able to fully express it in words. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing this - knowing that my videos make you feel this way brings so much more meaning to my work. You ARE good enough, always, and we are ALL creative when we let go of the limits that are often set for us by either ourselves or our teachers throughout our lives (and I am very familiar with those limits myself). I believe that watercolours and their playful and free nature are the ultimate healer for our inner artists, inner children. It keeps us grounded and present and connected to something magical. I wish you a very, very creative 2024 - happy painting!!!

I love your watercolour painting style. The paint flows together in such beautiful ways. You have such a light, but dramatic way of putting the paint to paper. 😊 Thank you for your beautiful videos and the information you post at the top as you go along.❣️

Thank you so much! Glad you liked this scene - enjoy painting your own dramatic skies. They are so freeing to create as you can go wild with the darker colours and get some really pronounced watercolour texture effects.

Absolutely loving this,particularly the speed and your text rather than talking over a ditzy soundtrack ! My paints don't have these names so am having to approximate .....

Oh I am so glad you are enjoying this video format - I, too, prefer to focus on the painting itself with just enough commentary to deliver the main points. Have fun exploring your paints - it is even more exciting to approximate because you are making this scene your own ✨ Thank you for watching!!

This is so beautiful and soothing. Thank you so much for bringing meditative watercolor painting! I have watched several videos, and each one of them is very inspiring!! What are the colors you chose to set up on your palette? Are they all Daniel smith ? they are so beautiful and in harmony with each other.

Thank you for watching and for your kind comment - I am glad you are enjoying my videos 😊 I use professional quality watercolours by a number of brands but the majority of them are, indeed, by Daniel Smith. I always list the colours I use and the brands in the description of each video so you can find all the details there 😊

So lovely…I was surprised that the sky and land still seem disconnected somehow?
@AnastasiaMily11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I can't be 100% sure what disconnection you mean as we all perceive painted scenes differently, but it was my intention to create a very high contrast between the sky and the land, to portray that intense light right after the sun comes out after a big storm, making the land glow, and the receding heavy clouds almost black.
