Looking fabulous as always Hex, & oh my wow Alucard from Castlevania looks amazing! Love the bag. The first sketch is ok as a close up, but the second is divine. When you were talking about your art of water colors I'm like Oh come now Hex your water color paintings are gorgeous, it gives out the Castlevania canvas created by you. I can't imagine if you try sketching Lady Oscar from Rose of Versailles. I finally finished sketching Cinderella's pink dress, I had to add more ribbons at the bottom of the dress because the classic one had only a few so I had to give it Rarity approved. 2:55 while looking at the Cinderella book, I don't like how people just damages books, & the cover she is not wearing pink dress she is wearing Silver or Blue, it would be lovely to see Cinderella getting a makeover in your work. I love seeing your Alice, Koan, Lady Black, & your Lady Hex, what a throw back. I don't know if your talking about a new Sailor Moon doll, Bayonetta, I don't know if its Marilyn Monroe, I can't remember who was always unfashionably late, see you next time & don't forget to get plenty of rest.

I couldn't imagine if you tried giving classic Cinderella or live version of Cinderella the magic they deserve like how you did with Belle. I mean I did a birth of Venus of Cinderella, I used the live version dress as a base, gave her bun and wavy hair, black choker, gloves, and voila she lives. I could decide what her stand would be but then I remember her song Dreams is a wish, so I picture her stand is clouds, Cinderella ~ Princess of Dreams and Hope.

Probably is because you're using a cheap watercolor brand. If you want an intermediate brand: Van Gogh, W&N Cotman and Holbein are amazing and accessible. And they last a lot since you only need a tiny bit of water to activate them and cover even more. Cheap watercolors tends to blend more like chalk than watercolor. Source: I have tons of brands of watercolors and inks and while my favs are Sennelier, Daniel Smith, DR Ph Martin's and Schminke, I wouldn't recommend them unless you have tons of experience with intermediate watercolors.

@@HeXtian If you're thinking like Arches paper, not really. The important detail is that must be 300 grm, cold pressed if you want the drawing have texture or hot pressed if you want a clean drawing. Canson and Fabriano are quite accessible papers (Canson Heritage is my favorite!), and way cheaper than Arches, but they do an amazing job with watercolors.

Just wanted to say with watercolor that if you want more opaque water color, you will want to invest in a higher grade watercolor paint. The tubes can tell you which colors are opaque and which ones are more transparent. The Windsor and Newton Cotman paints are really good student grade paints.

Hello Hextian. Lovely painting; you are doing very well for a beginner in watercolor. I definitely can see your experience in other media shining through. You have a unique style and that is why I enjoy watching your vireos. Plus you have a great personality and I love your style. Keep being yourself! I am a Teaching Artist, and am a fine artist. My biggest advice would be to invest in some tube watercolors; I like the Van Gogh brand, but there are others. You will have to squeeze some paint out of the tube, and mix it with water either on the paper or in a palette. I would suggest a palette. I think you would find it easier to work with, and like the results more. Also you need to invest in some high quality watercolor brushes. You can use cheap brushes for most other media, but for watercolor, investing in nice brushes is a great investment, and they will last you for years if you take care of them.
