I enjoyed the video. I think it demonstrates that there kits out there that build easily and are reasonably priced. It is a classic r/c car. Tamiya makes a clear coat acrylic paint for the hard plastic surface. For new r/c drivers, especially kids, the Grasshopper is great because you can take it out, even with a NIMH battery, and it will run for a very long time. Just avoid curbs, trees, mail boxes, etc.
@jeffbryner53553 жыл бұрын
I feel kits are the only way to go. To me a hobby grade rc is building it selecting the electronics painting it up yourself. Sure its more expensive but its how you want it with the best stuff on it. Rtr's are the dumbed down version of the kit version if there is that option. Its not as fun for me either. Just pull it out slap a battery and your done. I enjoy the building and making it from nothing into a car/truck etc ..

Mark, I had one of those about 35 years ago. RC Car Action came out with 2 different articles to change it up. I actually did both of them. The first one to make it monster truck at the time. I had a Black Foot and Monster Bettle. It was a blast to drive. I then was thinking about road course and Bolink was HOT at the time. Then RC Car Action came out on how to modify it for a road course. I was beating those Bolinks on the track. No one could beleave it was a modifid Grass hopper. Steve

Paint in this order, eyes, face, rim, helmet, go to a specialized store and by some proper brushes, two light mists of sealer, and don't rush let it dry well on each stage

Hey mark hobby lobby has stuff that eats ca glue. I stripped a hex out on a brand new set of tires. Had 1 race on the set. I bought that stuff and it ate the glue and was able to save the tire and foam. It does take awhile but to me it was worth it. Im not sponsored so tires are expensive. All the other thing i ha e tried messes the foam up

Got my Tshirt! Couple msm stickers too! Thanks Mark! Couple painting tips, wash the parts you will paint just like a body, thin your paints so you get full coverage in 2 to 3 coats drying between coats. Finally use spray enamel clear for a top coat. Great job though!

That little plastic nubbin in the battery tray is supposed to be cut out completely, it is just an injection release sprue. if you don't paint a Tamiya driver like he is completely terrified then you didn't go it right! All of mine have a slightly to completely terrified look to them!!
@K-Anator3 жыл бұрын
6:35 Regarding that plastic nub, I have two original Grasshopper chassis (The Hornet) and neither have that sprue there. I'd cut it out entirely, but just getting the bottom bit off like you did should be enough. Oh, and the rear suspension on both the GH and GH2 chassis is basically useless, even with some modifications like AmPro's transmission brace, or a third shock mod. They're bouncers. Of the Tamiya cars I have, I think the Stadium Blitzer (variant of the Falcon chassis), and Sand Viper (DT-02) have the most functional suspension.

Modge Podge is super good for lots of crafts but this isn’t one of them! (As you discovered) it’s basically like coating with thinned out white glue. Grumbacher “Picture Gloss Varnish” or Army Painter “Aegis Suit Satin Varnish” are my personal favourites! There are other brands out there that are great too!

I just wanted you to be aware that the stock TBLE-02S speed controller that came in the kit does not have the proper Lipo cutoff voltage. For extended running you'll want to put some kind of Lipo alarm in there.

Should have used matte colours as overalls and seat belts also matte or get some aerosol matte finish lacquer so just the helmet would be shiny, don't paint the eye iris warm up a large sowing needle to get the proper scale of the Iris's by putting a hole in the eyes.
