I absolutely love your videos, they are phenomenal. I don't think you've put one out that I don't like. You explain things really well and you are a great teacher. However, I think it's your friendly, jovial personality that attracts a lot of people. You help lots of people to de-stress and it's like spending 30-60 minutes with a good friend. In these stressful, challenging times we all need that. Thank you for the work you do and the time you spend making these videos.

Always watching David, you have become like a family member your voice in my house, especially during these still hard times. I am painting birds, not like yours of course, but still trying. I have been into birds for some reason and I think because they are free and we still are not. They land on my deck or the Bradford Pear trees and always a nest someplace. One year they made a nest on my spring wreath on my front door. So funny, so we had to go out by garage and ended up tossing the wreath. Funny. Anyway love those bird pics and your stories. Take care, Mary in NC, but from MD.

Lovely painting! I think I would have fiddled forever, that's going to be an area for growth for me! I really wanted to mottle a little of the Hansa yellow with a lot of white just streaking through that bluish gray and white over his head, I'm a sucker for sunlight! Still gorgeous, and lilacs are a personal favorite! As for the hummingbird question, I live in the Seattle area, and we get the ruby throated ones, but we also get these ones that are all green all over but then they change color as you look at them with their iridescent feathers, so they go from this incredible emerald green and sea blue green to magenta and violet and electric blue! Really incredible birds. I'll see if I can find a photo to share in the FB Group.

Lovely painting! What do you mean by calligraphy(sp?)?
@JansenArtEducation4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie, I explain it in a couple videos. I need to do it a little more. Several years ago I read a "Alla Prima" book by Al Gury. In it is a entire explanation of "brush calligraphy" all the way back to the Dutch master Frans Halls. Fantastic. Basically your can tell an artist by how they use the brush. I specially went to the National Gallery in Washington, then over to Europe to study some of Halls calligraphy. It is amazing. Since then I use my brush in different ways to make different looks. Essentially though you can tell an artist by how they make a brush mark. Just like handwriting. Since that time I have studied the brush work of several "masters" in many different genres. It has given me so many new ideas and paths of creativity.
