I love the atmosphere you create in your paintings...they are always better than the photograph. You must have a lovely open spiritual heart which finds it's way into the painting process. May God bless you and your talent.

You have a very steady hand to render all those individual grass/reed stems with such uniformity. Very nice work. The time lapse video technique really lets us see your approach. Very helpful.

Morning! This piece looks simple but upon watching your brushes, how intriguingly complex. The main eye catcher is the sky and water, such unusual pleasing color and fabulous blending! Then come the minute details, even barely there stalks and their shadows, lots of natural weedies in foreground. Handsome is as handsome does, me Mikey. This one, welp, I don't dare tackle it, it'd very likely look cartoony. I like to hide me booboos in forestry scenes, know what I mean? You're aging magnificently, your voice deep as your gentle soul. I'm in me 70th year, rheumatism is knocking me for a loop but I'm way more a stubborn lot than it. Still aloto pepper in me hair, oddly. I'm still knocking about in your 2017 vids, they're so so dandy, liken the 2016s. Home movies I now call them. Bless ya dear one, keep launching lessons, I see by these comments folks are frustrated with themselves yet focusing on your how tos with vigor. It was the greatest event you chose to become a teacher. My gratitude you haven't forgotten us faithful KZbinrs seeking your techniques. Best health to you and yours, really!

Hello Professor, The first time, I looked at your cover picture I think it's more of a photograph than a painting. Because it's very realistic. What I love most about this painting are the little components you add to the water. It makes the picture more dimensional and complete. and techniques for blending your colors It's so gentle. Thank you for sharing.

I haven't painted using oil paint in 50 years plus I painted using the impressionistic method. But I always dreamed about painting photo realistically but back then it was looked down upon. But to me I wanted for people to know at first glance what it was that I painted also to paint nature convincingly takes a great deal of skill and patience. I have been trying to put together a studio for myself to get back into painting again since that has always been a passion of mine but well life can alter those goals. But I know that if I practice using the tools and now taking lessons from Michael I hope that since I know that I have the patience but I hope I can gain the confidence in myself that finally I will be able to achieve something very special to me, I hope to create many of the paintings that I just dreamed that I would be able to. Thank you Michael for doing the You Tube videos ( which first drew me back towards painting), creating your school, and hosting your Patreon site.

My first "studio" was a piece of plywood propped up at one end on my coffee table. I would paint while the TV was on. Now I have graduated to a drafting table (using that same piece of plywood!) in one corner of the living room. Don't wait. Just paint. 😊

dear Michael, thank you very much for your videos. I'll save myself from praising you now, you've probably gotten used to it by now. I often have to pause some videos briefly because I have to process my positive emotions in stages. You should film this wonderful gift that you are filming in a higher video resolution. 1440p e.g. Kind regards from me.

I love your painting. Beautiful. The reason I watch these videos is to learn how to do things. It’s too bad that you have them on high speed - too fast for me to learn anything. Why not make it last 15 minutes instead of 6 so at least we could get something out of it!!?? Anyways….nice work.

I just noticed your "store" banner below the video. It looks like you use a random number generator to come up with the prices - exact down to the penny. $4005.84 for a painting? I mean, it is kind of quirky in an artistic way, but why not $4000, or even the very annoying $3995, or even more annoying $3999.99.

I don't know if you meant over the years, or only one year. One year is not very long for oil painting. I am sure you need to practice more. You might think about doing paintings that are just exercises, like an entire painting of a grassy field, or just trees, or whatever you need to work on. You really have to paint every day to develop the muscle memory
