Great job! Forgive my ignorance, but I saw you brush on the Steel color which is a color for air brushes am I wrong? I never though of using them with a brush. As I don't own an airbrush I'm unsure what the differences are.

The King of Average Thanks! Correct - the Model Air Metallic paints are developed for airbrush use. However, with them being a nice thin paint straight out of the bottle which require little to no thinning and having such finely ground pigments, they apply super nice with a brush. These have become my favorite silver paints to use by far. The main difference between these metallics and "normal" ones (like the Model Color metallics) is that these paints are thinner and contain finer ground metallic pigments (creating a nice smooth look) where the "normal" metallics tend to be a bit thicker and contain larger metallic flakes (creating a comparitively rough, sparkly look) That make sense?

These are probably my favorite mini you've done so far; can't wait until I get to your Rising Sun videos.

Thanks man! This clan was quite fun to paint.. You painting Blood Rage?

Dude, your brush control with the dry brushing is impressive--I prefer to take care of my dry brushing early on since I know it will be messy, and how you manage to pull it off without getting it everywhere else is pretty awesome. And how do you manage to pull off painting all that tiny armor filigree without getting the metallic paint everywhere but where you want it to be?? Nice work, and these look like well sculpted minis, too.

Hi, I'm using Vallejo glaze medium, it's awesome but makes the paint stay wet very long, I noticed at 10:44 you were using something to help the paint dry, can I ask you what it was? Thanks as always for the awesome content!

Of course! That was an airbrush. I simply used it to blow air onto the model to help it dry quicker. But you can just as easily use a hair dryer or a mini fan to do the same thing. 😁

Your channel has inspired me to paint my own Blood Rage minis! Does your Patreon include PDF painting guides for all the Blood Rage minis?

Glad to hear it! Sadly, the only Blood Rage PDF I've done is for the 4 clan ships.

@@BandaInku How do you go about buying paints? Individual? Vallejo Sets? I even found a game color basic paint set (72 paints). Any wisdom is appreciated. I'm starting with zero paints.
@BandaInku4 жыл бұрын
So the way I started was I picked a set of minis I wanted to paint and I figured out a general scheme I wanted to do and then just bought the individual paints. Then over time I kept picking up new paints and colors until now I've got the rainbow. However - I feel like I'm kind of the odd ball out on this one because I've always been into artsy fartsy stuff so I've played around with colors and such before. But I know a lot of people really like to start off with a set of paints (particularly if they don't have any sort of art background). If that's the case, then yeah I'd probably go with a Vallejo set. The Game Color set has some great colors and so does the Model Color. I've never tried Army Painter aside from their quickshades, but I know people have mixed feelings on them. One thing you could do is buy a smaller set (say a basic Vallejo Model Color set), paint some stuff with that - make sure you like mini painting, then invest in a bigger set. If you do choose to start with a subset of paints picked individually, I've got a few that I've absolutely loved and would recommend right off the bat. (Though those also depend on what you're wanting to paint first haha) Also - dunno where you're based, but miniature market is fantastic to buy paints from :D

Banda Inku thanks for the advise! I think I will buy single pots for a while to get a handle on things. I think I’m going to start my first project with the serpent clan. I will definitely look into shopping on Miniature Market. Do you have a code or affiliate link I could use to benefit you?
@BandaInku4 жыл бұрын
Sadly MM doesn't have an affiliate program. Appreciate the thought though! If you buy anything on Amazon however, I do have affiliate links listed in the descriptions of each of my videos. (Which if you buy anything from Amazon using those links I should get the affiliate benefit - even if it's not one of the linked items 😁)

What do you use to thing you paints and keep the wet. I have issues with paints drying little faster than I would like. And I would like a little thinner. Love the videos
@BandaInku6 жыл бұрын
I just thin my paints with distilled water and use a wet pallete to help keep the paints from drying too quickly. I use this one - amzn.to/2DCPVB6 with the sponge included and some parchment paper. For a while I tried using the special paper it came with, but it didn't work well for mini painting acrylics since it's designed for heavy bodied acrylics. Though you could make a simple wet pallete using a simple tupperware (with a lid), some paper towels, distilled water, and parchment paper which will work just as well. There are a few cases that I don't use the wet pallete, which is when I'm using washes or creating a larger glaze mix. That's when I use a normal plastic pallete with little cup-like sections since the paints are a lot more runny. For thinning paints down to a glaze consistency or diluting washes, I use use a home made glaze medium or wash base in addition to distilled water. The recipe I use for those is listed in the description of each video if interested.
