I'm not sure. Probably a good idea to use the same paint finish as the current wall paint. You want to apply the paint to the sponges not dip them in the paint. Once you're done go back with a single sponge and fill in the empty spaces. But feel free to ask me anything 😊 I hope this was helpful.
