@xCrescentMagic It wasn't Zeref it was Ultear who brainwashed Jellal it stated that in episode 48 in the anime and after the Tower of Heaven event in the manga. so basically she was the 1 who manipulated Jellal all this time by pretending to be a spirit of zeref and besides it stated that Zeref isn't even dead just sealed away.

@kaiROXmyWorld Gerard is his romanization, in other words it's his name in roman but it's translate to Jellal because Japanese pronounce it as 'Jeraru' ^^ I was also confused at the first time like 'why is it Gerard? I thought it was Jellal' and when I know I finally came to a conclusion: his name is really Gerard, Jellal came from the pronunciation of Jeraru and if you want proof go ahead to Google Translation and translate Gerard from Romanian/English to Japanese, hope it help.

@XEnchantedMarshie18X not really, also if you take a look at the different anime databases, like MyAnimeList and Anime-Planet, both tells his name: Jellal Fernandes... also might be cause you've watched a dubbed version, sometimes they change character names when they dub/translate it, (like OP, i read the danish translated manga: Ruffy, original Luffy, just an example) but his name is Jellal ;)
